Chapter One: Why Study Music in the Christian Life?
The reason it is important to study music is because it is important to gain a better understanding of the message music will communicate. The things that we communicate through music are very important and will either be right or wrong. Music is not neutral; there is such thing as good and bad music. We need to make the choices to listen to the right kind of music. Music will stir our emotions, and since some emotions are wrong for a child of God, there is certainly such a thing as bad music. We need to increase our knowledge in music in order to ensure that we are doing things that will please the Lord.

Rock music promotes sensuality and depression. It is ludicrous to think that it is okay to mix Christian music with the music of the world, creating Christian Contemporary Music. Our bodies first respond to music so and as Christians we understand that the body is to be under control. The music we listen to should be God honoring.

Chapter 4: Music Makes Its Mark
Music will have three effects on us. It will affect us physically, mentally and spiritually. It is not good music if the music will have a negative effect physically. We should not dance in provocative ways. Music will also have a mental effect and can make us either happy or depressed. We should listen to music that gives us joy in the Lord. Lastly, the right kind of music can help us grow spiritually.

Chapter Five: Order in Music Offers Harmony in Life
Music has three primary parts: the melody, the harmony and the rhythm. The spirit responds to the melody, the mind responds to the harmony, and the body responds to the rhythm. The melody should dominate the music in the Christian's life. The harmony, or the way we react to the music should come second. The rhythm should come lastly. How do we respond to Christians who say they got a blessing out of Christian rock music? Christian rock has a close association with the world. We should not listen to music that will make us want to listen to ungodly music. Our music must reflect God.

Chapter Eight: Unto The Lord
Our prayer as a Christian should be to have discerning ears with music. We need to be cautious of the sound and the lyrics. Much of the world’s music today is not found offensive because we have become desensitized to the severity of it. We need to have discernment between what is right and wrong with all music. It should all be done unto the Lord. Chapter Nine: Instruments of Praise
Humans were created as musical beings. God created humans and he created music! Man did not create music, God created music. The way music sounds is important, but the lyrics in music are important too. We are God’s instruments of praise, and our music should glorify God.
