The legacy of Jesus Christ has and continues to frame the lives of his adherents by a virtue of the principle beliefs and various ethical teachings. The idea of salvation as well as the the trinity are monumental principal beliefs, that illustrate certain morals and values which can be applied to the lives of christians today. As well as this, the ethical teachings derived from the Bible, are considered as the fundamentals in leading an exemplary christian life. Overall, christian adherents can be regarded as a reflection of Jesus’ life on Earth. The idea of salvation is a significant principal belief which acknowledges God’s love for humanity. It is through Jesus’ death and resurrection that God was able to re-establish His relationship …show more content…

The Beatitudes are considered as the foundational ethics for christians in living a life based on the teachings of Jesus. The beatitudes have impacted the lives of christians as they are a modified version of the decalogue, giving rewarding statements as opposed to the woes and restrictions illustrated in the ten commandments. As well as this, the beatitudes assure that good deeds will result in happiness and everlasting life, which encourages christians to follow Jesus’ ethical teaching outlined in the beatitudes. An example where the beatitudes have impacted the lives of christians can be explored through Matthew 5:7 which states “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy”. Christians today have translated this beatitude into their lives through the establishment of many social justice and charitable organisations who intend to show mercy towards others. Furthermore, the commandment of love is another ethical teaching that was modelled by Jesus throughout his life on earth. The commandment of love can be considered as a synopsis which combines all the ethical teachings together. Through this, christians today are able to recognise that with love one can experience God’s forgiveness and mercy to find everlasting life which is the ultimate goal for christians. To conclude, during his time on Earth, Jesus reaffirmed the ethical teachings from the old testament and provided guidelines for individuals to lead an exemplary christian
