Matthew Woods 1000978557 CSE 1105 – 001 October 17, 2015 Chris Roberts, born on May 27, 1968, is an accomplished video game developer and programmer, known for his Wing Commander franchise. This series set new bars for player interaction and storytelling. By the age of 13, he had already sold his first computer game and 6 years later he developed three top selling hit games in the U.K. Roberts later moved on to pursue film and created several movies, like Wing Commander and The Punisher. Eventually, he returned to game development to create Star Citizen, a crowdfunded space simulator. These successes soon led to Roberts directing the film adaptation of the first game in 1999. After waiting for technology to meet the level of his dreams, Roberts returned to the video game industry. Maintaining his love for gaming, he returned with new ideas for his next game. Together with Ortwin Freyermuth, Roberts formed Cloud Imperium Games Corporation and launched a crowdfounding campaign for Star Citizen. The company aimed to produce a space sim game of the sandbox genre with the Cryengine 3 game engine. Today, Roberts and his company continues their development on Star Citizen. Born on July 28, 1971 in Canada, Drew Karpyshyn works as both a successful video game designer and writer. After joining BioWare in 2000, Karpyshyn soon become one of BioWare’s best writers. He worked as their lead scenario writer for several popular game titles, like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect 1 and 2. However, Karpyshyn left BioWare on February 2012 to fulfill his personal hobbies in writing. Karpyshyn’s most popular works were Mass Effect 1 and 2, an action science fiction RPG.
