Chinese Cinderella is an Autobiography about Adeline Yen Mah. In the story, it talks about how she suffers under the care of her stepmother Niang. She is over emotional as she over exaggerates all her situations. She is also very intelligent as she makes her life seem so much easier. Thanks to her stubbornness she succeeds as an individual. So is she a good person or is she a bad person. The eponymous character Adeline seems to be ruled by her emotions and feels persecuted by her family. The novel Suttree is centered on Cornelius “Buddy” Suttree, a college educated man who has decided to forsake his former life and live in a houseboat on the Tennessee River outside of Knoxville, Tennessee in a fairly destitute area known as McAnally Flats in 1951. He leaves his wife and child, a son, giving up the comfortable life to live as a river rat of sorts. He seems to be searching for something, unbeknownst to him or the reader. Possibly the meaning of life, but more than likely it’s a way to deal with death that seems to follow Suttree around throughout the novel. He’s not one for social norms, coming off as being an anarchist. He runs from his responsibilities, rebels against authority, and refuses to be bound by social convention. His everyday life is a hodge podge of drunken adventures, be it brawls or waking up in the morning in the local lockup hungover and confused. He associates with the

The play “A Raisin in the Sun” by Lorraine Hansberry has many interesting characters. In my opinion, the most fascinating character is Ruth because of her many emotions and captivating personality. She goes through extreme emotions in the play such as happiness, sadness, anger, stress, and confusion. Ruth is very independent, firm, kind, witty, and loving.
In A Separate Piece by John Knowles, it is about a boy named Gene Forrester who becomes friends with Phineas (Finny). They are best friends and roommates in Devon School in New Hampshire during the 1940’s. They decide to make a secret society (Super Suicide Society) which turns jumping out of a tall tree into a river a ritual. Gene starts envying Finny and wonders if Finny is trying to ruin his grades since Finny only exceeds physically and not mentally. He soon starts to hate Finny and think differently of him. After a while, Gene realizes that he was wrong about Finny trying to sabotage him. They decide to make amends by jumping off of the tree together. When Finny is about to jump off, Gene bends his legs which caused Finny to fall off and break his leg. After his leg heals, a trial is held to figure out if Gene is responsible for Finny’s broke leg. Finny runs out and trips over marble steps. He breaks his leg again and gets surgery which leads to his death. Gene should be held legally responsible over the death of Finny. He was the cause pf the first fall and he has guilt over his death. Finny would not have died if it wasn’t for the first fall that tragically broke his leg.

He was appointed to the capital of Lithuania to serve as his country’s consul. Chiune Sugihara sacrificed his job and reputation to save thousands of Jews from the grasp of the Germans.

Hansberry illustrates the constant discrimination that colored people, as a whole, endured in communities across the nation. Mama, who is the family’s foundation, is the driving force behind the family on the search for a better life. With the family living in extreme poverty, their family bond is crucial in order to withstand the repression. Hansberry effectively portrays the racism within society, and how it reinforced unity amongst the family members.

Character development is used to show what characters are like. This development allows the characters to feel 3-D and well rounded instead of a flat 2D character. Authors can make characters into anything they want by giving details on who they are and do not care what their past looks like. Don’t Think Twice, by Ruth Pennebaker, shows development in the protagonist by her becoming more adult-like.
The twentieth century was an awesome time in the historical backdrop of relocations that happened the world over. In this century individuals recorded development starting with one place then onto the next. The developments were required by the quest for greener settlements of life. Individuals of the Asian birthplace relocated to the U.S. what's more, gotten themselves torn between their own way of life and the American practices. This two opposite compels one of inventiveness and the other recently discovered, was battled by the Chinese era that was brought up in the American foundation. In this novel of “a ‘secret story of an unwanted daughter”, Adeline presents her stepmother Niang, as a violent, impatient, biased, domineering and manipulative demon. Analysing the language used by the author, we can discover how effectively she does this.
In the 1812, Grimm Brother’s version of Cinderella , you will read about the cruel life she endured, the disowenment from her father and how birds not only guide her spriritually but are disclossures of truth, as well as revenge seekers. Any evil done towards the maiden was punished by her guarding birds.
Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella is a magical experience that epitomizes the name of Broadway. The set, costumes, music, lights and choreography are nothing short of divine.
The novel Up that Down Staircase provided me deeper insight on the broad array of personalities encountered in the classroom setting better understand as an educator. Previously employed by the local school district I have experienced some, but not all, of the described personalities from the novel in past students. I was able to take a deeper look into the teacher Ms. Barrett and how she was able to connect with each individual student and the impact it made on her classroom and the students success.
