Recommended: Need and Importance of psychological Research

Child neglect is a form of abuse and it is rapidly increasing. Child neglect is a major issue that causes children to grow up feeling unloved or unwanted. There are many causes and effects of neglect which extremely effect the children growing up and it is an issue that needs to end.
HOW NEGLECT OCCURS
Some parents that are neglected as a child or have mental illness could cause them to become neglectful to their children. Firstly, they would become very distant and they will become uncommunicative with their children because it mirrors how the parent was treated as a child. Parents become neglectful when they were abused and mistreated as a child, expects too much from their child and fell like they are doing a bad job as a parent. Furthermore, it becomes and extreme effect when the parent is managing a family member death or illness, abused by a significant other, use alcohol or drugs the pregnancy was unplanned. In addition, parents becomes anxious about not having money or being able to support the family, tension in their …show more content…

There are multiple effects on children that are neglected. To begin with, neglected children experience behavioural problems at home which causes them fear or shyness to adults in the future, lack of trust in everyone, suicidal thoughts and abuse to family members. Also, neglected kids have more trouble in school because of being neglected it causes them to have problems regulating in school and they become lonely and more anti-social, they also have problems regulating emotions which also cause become violent to resolve problems. Eventually, they will avail oneself and start drinking alcohol and using drugs. One last reason, neglected children start to feel like they are worthless and or damaged because of having trouble in school and other peers call them to stupid and dumb they start to believe it.
