Cheating is wrong; at least that is what most of us have been taught from a young age. But if cheating is so wrong and “cheaters never prosper” then why do we do it? It seems that the more people cheat, the farther they go in life. This is puzzling to a young child who is trying their hardest and still not getting the results they want. Once one person cheats and gets positive feedback, it opens the door for more people to try it. The question shifts from why cheat? To why shouldn't I cheat? This leads me to believe that cheating is simply a horrible habit perpetuated by the culture of society. Some may argue that there are many different types of cheating and that some have a smaller weight than others but at the end of the day, it all boils …show more content…

And that can become a vicious, downward cycle. Because suddenly, if everyone else is cheating, you feel a need to cheat too” (Stephen Covey).Cheating should never be a choice because if you cheat, whatever results you receive are not yours. If you ace a test, but you copy answers from someone else, that score means nothing. The whole point of tests is to assess what you know, not what your partner knows. And if you fail a test that should give you motivation to try harder next time. Failure should be a learning experience. A common philosophy is that we should not fail at anything and that may contribute to why people cheat so often. They are afraid of failure. If someone else is getting 100% on a test and you are only getting a 13%, then what does that say about you? Many people will think that that means they are not as smart as the other person and therefore not as good as them, but the truth is that everyone has their strengths and their weaknesses.
