According to Charles Mahoney, the US military depended upon contractors to support counterinsurgency operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of the tasks the military contractors conduct include drone missions to collect signals intelligence and assist foreign countries like Iraq and Afghanistan forces to fight insurgencies. There have been notable occurences of use of excessive force in violation of human right by companies such as CACI at Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq and Blackwater at Nisour Square. Iraq has made reference to the lack of monitoring the private military defenses on their grounds. “If the US government is going to work extensively with contractors, it requires a more robust oversight system, government agencies and courts also need assurances they can hold defense firms accountable if they break the law overseas” …show more content…

Security contractors have been accused of shooting civilians, using excessive force, being insensitive to local customs or beliefs, or otherwise behaving inappropriately . For example, Raymond Allen Davis: former US Army soldier, private security firm employee and contractor with the CIA. January 27, 2011, Davis killed two reportedly armed men in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Although the U.S. government contended that he was protected by diplomatic immunity because of his employment with the U.S. Consulate in Lahore, Davis was jailed and criminally charged by Pakistani authorities with double murder and the illegal possession of a firearm. (Wikipedia). “DOD policy is to not recognize or endorse private citizens or private entities that have a commercial or profit-making relationship with the Department, unless the contribution is substantially beyond that specified in the contract”.     “Tora! Tora! Tora!” – These are the code words which were transmitted by Mitsuo Fuchida to the Japanese fleet signaling that the U.S. Pacific Fleet had been caught by surprise at Pearl Harbour. The attack, which occurred in the early morning of December 7th, 1941, resulted in the United States abandoning its policy of isolationism and entering the war. The U.S. officially declared a state of war between the Japanese Empire and the United States on December 8th, but for those who were at Pearl Harbour, like Thomas Mahoney, the war began on that morning at 8AM (Dunnahoo 5). Mahoney was born in New Jersey and enlisted at the age of 18 in 1940 to the United States Navy along with his brother, Harold. He was eventually stationed aboard the U.S.S. Curtiss at Pearl Harbour as an electrician’s mate when the surprise attack by the Japanese occurred, and went on to serve on board the U.S.S. O’Bannon, the most decorated U.S. Destroyer of World War Two, and where he would see most major actions in the Pacific Theatre including, but not limited to, the Guadalcanal Campaign, the Battle of Leyte Gulf, and the Recapture of Corregidor.

This anti-government point of view illustrates the arrest of General Devereaux as a war criminal arrested by Agent Hubbard. With my grandma’s hands full with three kids it was up to my grandpa to be the working man. He worked at James Nelson Company, a booming heating and air conditioning company, in San Francisco where he made good wages and was given great benefits. With the good pay my grandfather was able to easily afford a brand new home priced at $22,000, which included 3 beds and 2 baths. This decade was the start of a long ride for the Mammini family filled with incredible world events that we will never experience again.

This date is memorized and celebrated by every United States Marine as something of excellence, a date of honor. This date is non other than the "birthdate" of the Marine Corps. It was on this date that the Continental Congress passed a resolution to create two operational battalions of American Marines. These men would ultimately be headed by Captain Samuel Nicholas, of the United States Naval department. It was in Philadelphia that the first Marines were grouped and trained for their inaugural mission. The three hundred Marines that had been recruited, were placed aboard eight transport ships, all destined for the beaches of New Providence (the Bahamas). Upon their landing on March 3rd, 1776, they fought up the beach, sweeping through a barrage of bullets, and took command of two small stone forts and a number of military storage complexes.
