You want to try to create something miraculous that will change the world. You create a time machine that will be able to go to the past or future. You get stuck in the future.You are in a time where civilization has taken a tremendous downfall, where you cannot understand a word anyone says to you. A time where you cannot get back because you needed time machine back. At this point most people would give up and quit. They would start to doubt their abilities as a scientist and give up on their theories and inventions. To move along the plot of a story you must have a in mind a set task or be presented with a problem. In the case of this story, it is a select group of characters,the Morlocks,that present problems. They provide many obstacles due to their nocturnal and carnivorous behaviors. This is plainly observed when the Time traveler uses his mace in a fight for his life “I rolled over, and as I did so my hand came against my iron lever. It gave me strength. I struggled up, shaking the human rats from me, and, holding the bar short, I thrust where I judged their faces might be. I could feel the succulent giving of flesh and bone under my blows, and for a moment I was free”(Wells 120). This is but one example of the war that comes with being in the same time period as these hostile creatures. The difficult, treacherous, and mentally exhausting events that the main character has to overcome. Though there are more situations in this book these are the ones that best exemplify the fact that the Time Traveler has realized that nothing in life lasts forever. Despite vicious killer enemies , mental stress and harsh exploring conditions the Time Traveler never gave up, but rather carefully and logically examined what he had to work with a took what obstacles came his way.
