On October 11, 2017, I watched the film The Theory of Everything. It is a very touching story about the struggles that one man has to endure. This man’s name is Stephen Hawking and is currently a world-renowned astrophysicist. Set at Cambridge University in England, The Theory of Everything tells the story of Stephen Hawking and the many challenges he and those around him must go through because of his debilitating disease, ALS. A very strong relationship is displayed to the viewer in the film. This relationship is between Jane Wilde and Stephen Hawking. The story of the two begins when they meet and fall in love. Jane was also attending the University and her and Stephen had a seemingly typical relationship. When everything went down with Stephen their relationship is really put to the test, especially on Jane’s side. Jane seemingly faced with a choice. She could leave, like many around her encouraged, or stay by Stephen’s side throughout all of his trials. The viewer clearly sees what side she picks throughout the movie. That is the last choice, to stick by her husband's side. Jane loyally stays with him for the better part of 13 years, through thick and thin. Jane believes at first that Stephen only has several years left to live. Despite all of his issues she feels and knows that they are meant to be together. We can see Jane’s conviction to this special relationship through her words “ I know I don’t look like a terribly strong person, but I love him and he loves me. We are going to fight this illness together”. Jane even goes to such lengths to care for him that she goes and quits school in order to look after Stephen. The viewer sees that to Stephen, the care and love Jane gives him helps him to persevere and beat the odds. He could easily have given up on life and quit all his studies and research. However, because of the care and special bond between Jane and Stephen, he is able to get through and come up with groundbreaking discoveries on several questions of the universe. In addition to Stephen’s accomplishments, the couple is able to experience the feeling to have children. Miraculously, Jane gives birth to three children. This gives their relationship some materialization. As the movie progresses, however. Jane and Stephen slowly grow farther apart. Stephen is at first hurt when he finds of Jane and Jonathan's relationship but later comes to accept what has happened and he clearly appreciates all Jane has done for him. Despite this distancing, it remains evident that Jane and Stephen still have a bond that will last
