Go Beyond, Plus Ultra Anime has steadily gained popularity over the years in America. Some viewers tuning into their favorites as faithfully as some would Game of Thrones or The Handmaid’s Tale. One of the more popular series to air this season was Boku no Hero Academia or My Hero Academia. This superhero anime has drawn the attention of thousands with compelling characters and a captivating plot. One of the significant draws of the series is it’s impact on younger viewers. My Hero academia is, in short, an anime focused on superheroes and their special powers. The main character is a young boy named Izuku Midoria. On the other hand, Midoria is never depicted as invincible. In fact, the opposite is true in most cases. In his case, the immense power bestowed upon him has several drawbacks and repercussions for its misuse. Season 1 episode 4 clearly demonstrates this, as Midoria destroys his arm when he uses “One for All” for the first time. Consequently, he makes plans to compensate for his inability to use this power. Additionally, he takes into account the strengths and weaknesses of those he works with in order to make the most effective plan. This seems to be a clear example of the pen being mightier than the sword. Traits such as these are likely to lead children who enjoy watching the show to act in the same manner. He demonstrates the rewards of hard work while also warning young children of the dangers of overworking themselves. Additionally, he emphasizes the importance of teamwork, as well as respecting others. Midoria shows children that there are many ways to solve a problem and that physical power is not anything. Ultimately, the core lesson of My Hero Academia is that through persistence, determination, and hard work, anything can be accomplished. This is reiterated throughout the series, as it is also represented in the school’s motto, “Go Beyond, Plus Ultra”.
