Change is a very common, but huge part of a person’s life. Change will cause a person to be completely different from who they are. The infleunce of other people cause a person to change one’s personality. Other’s change one’s personality. Others actions can change a person’s personality negatively. In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Pip says, “So now, as an infallible way of making little ease great ease, I began to contract a quantity of debt. I could hardly begin but Herbert must begin too, so he soon followed.” (Dickens 249. 26) In this quote Pip is talking about the large amounts of debt that he has piled up. This is caused by his great expectations. Since Pip has found out that he will have all of his costs payed for by a secret benefactor, Pip goes on big spending sprees and piles up large amounts of debt. Give us thee hand, will you?” (Nicholas Nicklebee) In this quote a man who Nicholas has never seen before stops him and thanks him for beating Mr. Squeers, the ruthless headmaster. Even though it seems like Nicholas did a good thing, this wasn’t the Nicholas that the audience was all used to, he was changed. Mr. Squeers changed Nicholas negatively. His abusive nature changed Nicholas to resort to violence when he didn’t like what was happening. So when Nicholas didn’t like the way Squeers was treating the students, he beat Squeers. This is seen very commonly today with kids who grow up in abusive households. Kids who grow up in abusive households are more likely to believe that violence is the best way to solve a problem. Others personalities may rub off on one’s personality.
