Technology has changed the world drastically through the use of cell phones and computers. They have completely revolutionized today’s society. Life is more convenient now than when technology was less advanced. The improvement in health, research, communication, transportation, education and human personalities have greatly influenced life. Almost every American has a cell phone or computer that gives them access to text, call, take photographs or videos, download music, use internet and several other features that make living easier. Cell phones have improved safety in emergency situations by allowing us immediate contact with society. Computers have revamped the meaning of the word “research” by making any piece of information available to the general public. The ongoing debate on whether or not cell phones and computers have damaged society has been argued for years because their positive and negative effects. While the outcome of the mobile devises are quite beneficial, they can result in acts of social isolation, addiction, invasion of privacy, identity theft and more. In 1973, Martin Cooper made the world’s first wireless cell phone call while working as an engineer for the Motorola cell phone company. Cooper made the call on the top of a Manhattan building using a phone with a twenty minute battery life, a length of one foot, and a weight of two pounds. He began an evolution of telephones that forever changed the world(BuczynskI). Microcomputers, similar to the invention of the cell phones, were invented in the late 1970’s and became the first type of personal computers.
