Did you know that the average person spends 20.5 hours online per week (Doc 11). That’s almost one full day wasted away on technology. Some reasons why you should be attentive towards the use of cell phones are that 1 person spends 4 years of their life looking at their phone (talk about neck problems)(Doc 7), sleeping becomes an issue when they charge by your bed which can lead to staying up late and even sleep texting (Doc 8), and that people are even willing to text and call while driving which can risk lives, because they simply can’t be alone (Doc 3). Students and parents should limit the use of cell phones because they ruin relationships, makes your self esteem very low, and we go crazy because we can’t be alone. Cell phones ruin relationships and breaks people apart because we’re so attached to our phones we never make time to see people. Even if people make time to see their friends and family, we won’t pay attention to them or what’s going on in their lives, because we have to see what’s happening online since the average adult has the attention span …show more content…

Technology and phones have made being alone a difficulty that needs to be fixed (Doc 1). When teenagers are alone, even for a minute, they feel as though they need to be connected to facebook, text, and social media (Doc 1). If you never learn to be alone, the only thing you’ll know is how to be lonely. If you don’t know how to be by yourself without having to go on your cell phone, you lose the ability to have your own thoughts and tell them to your friends in a conversation (Doc 1). You may think “well, social media connects everyone! You’re never alone when you can go text your friend!”, however, the second you put your phone down, your friendless, and all alone.
