The consequences of such a massive and long war was many. If we start with the most obvious consequence, the enormous number of casualties from both north and south states. 751 000 people died in the war perhaps even more and a lot of injured people too. This was naturally tough for the families and those affected but even the country was influenced seriously as the working population was reduced. 1

On April 12, 1861, Abraham Lincoln declared to the South that, the only reason that separate the country is the idea of slavery, if people could solve that problem then there will be no war. The Civil War was the bloodiest, most devestating war that has ever been fought on American soil. It began on April 12, 1861, at 4:30 in the morning. The main reason that the war was fought was because Southern states believed that they should have the right to use African-Americans as slaves, and the Northern States opposed that belief.
After the end of the civil war African Americans had more opportunity and freedom since the men were soldiers of the civil war. Most African Americans had the plan to leave the south and move to up north because of the racism still lingering in the south, for example the Plessy vs. Ferguson Supreme Court case. This case was about a light-skin colored man sitting in the “white” car of a train. Although he was light-skin he was still considered black and got arrested for sitting in that section of the train. This was an opportunity to express racial equality, but the end result was devastating. The Supreme Court declared that segregation of race was to be still constitutionally acceptable. Also economic status in the south was getting lower and there was not as much labor due to destroyed crops.
The Civil War split the nation in half. It tore apart families, and Union soldiers against Confederate soldiers for four miserable years. From the first shots fired at Fort Sumter 1861, and ending with a unanimous Confederate victory in 1865. All in all 630,000 people died and many thousands wounded. The deaths in the Civil War totally surpassed the death totals from any other war (1). For those managed to survive the up hill battle just began, they faced many unknowns in a world moving in an uncertain direction. With the north beating the succeeded south in the war, politicians faced a hard task of reuniting the divided country. With reconstruction now in affect, both northern workers, and southern farmers now face many new obstacles and uncertainties about their jobs. The southern farmers had it bad, they lost the war, lost their slaves, and were forced to move west in order to find new farmland and continue to make a manageable living. However the north and south would find out that they would need each other in order to move the country forward.
The end of the civil war should’ve marked a major turning point for the position of African Americans. The north’s victory marked the end of slavery and in addition, the fourteenth and fifteenth amendment guaranteed African Americans full civil and political equality. However, the end of the civil war and the beginning of the reconstruction era was seen a ‘false dawn for the slaves in the former confederacy and border states.
Following the American Civil War, the whole nation was forever changed and was the result of many good and bad things. Although it was a very costly war and was So, the Civil War did define us and made us the good and the bad things we are and led to an extremely significant change because slavery was abolished once and for all and African American rights followed many years later, the Federal Government imposed more power over the states, our country was divided for a while, and it left the nation in debt due to the fact that we fought each other.
Southern society mirrored European society in many ways, one such example is that of a lavish lifestyle. When slavery originated it was made up of indentured servants, yeomen, and the wealthy plantation owners. Indentured servants were mostly from England and came over to America in the 17th century. The wealthy plantation owners were families that were slave owners. They made their money by making slaves complete tasks in which returned great profits. The turned wealthy plantation owners were using this for their benefit; they were able to pay the slaves very little in exchange for the mass amount of crops they could produce. This being said the numbers of slaves in demand were rapidly increasing because of the rise of cotton in the lower south. The cotton area of the lower south were using slaves and depending on them much more than the upper south with the tobacco industry. To keep up with the lower south, the upper south starting focusing more slave trade to help build their framings. The slave prices were increasing and due to high demands in the lower south, the upper south had a decline in the tobacco industry. Since the upper south was failing with Tobacco, slave trade took off.
Although the American Civil War mainly occurred because of slavery, the fact is that slavery had a lot to do with economic and social issues.
One of the most dangerous wars in american history, was created over a small period of time, where tensions grew rapidly throughout the country. The Civil War lasted four years, when the popular majority of people believed it would last three months before one side would face defeat. The Civil War was caused by a majority of different events that caused tensions to rise throughout the country over various subjects, such as the economies and the political standpoint of both the North and the South.The stress caused by the politics increased the infuriation throughout the country.
