The most difficult question that was emerging in Canada was the establishment of education and the matter if denominational rights. Denominational rights in education are controversial in Canada and show compelling growth in Canada but in particular Ontario. Ontario has always wanted the separate school board but with a separate publicly funded system. Catholic schools are experienced and have provided education for almost 170 years. Most people believe that Catholic schools can develop their children spiritually,physically and make them socially potential. Catholic schools in Ontario started in the 1600s but was legalized in 1841 under the Scott Act. This act gave the Catholic community the right to operate their publicly funded schools. Due to the massive success, Ontario’s education ranks the best in the world. During the 2007, provincial elections, some groups wanted to end the public funding of the Catholic schools in Ontario. The people of of Ontario were once again faced with difficulties of the denomination rights in the education system. John Tory, leader of the Conservative Party, called for an extension on public funding to Catholic schools. It seems to me that it is a statement that secular states cannot fund only one faith to the exclusion of the others. This means that the separate school system is not a GOD given right. However, the Catholic schools are run with more dsipline compared to other schools over Ontario but is this hardly a reason for this system to countine. These schools can be reconstituted as private and fee based schools that can teach Catholicism. Also, the MPP’s can return their local taxation to the Catholic boards and give all schools equal access through a charter tax credit
