Assessment 1 Q.1 Cyclic Innovation Model has four processes cycles. These processes cycles will lead to entrepreneur. W.L. Gore & Associates using these processes cycles to illustrate the innovation process. First is Natural and life sciences cycle. “Scientists from different concepts of the natural sciences is necessary to initiate a new technological capability and opportunity” (Berkhout, Hartmann & Trott 2010). In the Gore-Tex case, Bill and Vieve Gore, the founder of W.L. Gore Associates found fluorocarbon polymers that expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as an market opportunity in 1969. Second is integrated engineering cycle. Since they found the PTFE to create an opportunity to the market. Bob Gore found that the PTFE is a material that were stretching, highly flexible and would create many microporous. So, they came out a new product idea to make a fabric that are waterproof and strongly restraint water come in and clothes would get wet. The technology is very difficult to do it but Gore-Tex fabric succeeded to produce a new product, raincoats in 1976. “Different technological capabilities will able to create new product” (Berkhout, Hartmann & Trott …show more content…

In 1990 until now, Gore-Tex has created many kinds of products not only the raincoats. Outdoor activities had increasingly popular. Therefore, they have largely produced many kinds of products related with outdoor activities such as coats, backpacks, shoes etc. Although Gore-Tex just used fabric to produce products. Nowadays they also develop variety and different industry products such as medical, fibers, Pharmaceutical Processing, Electronic & Electrochemical Materials etc. (W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. 2016). In this case, W.L. Gore & Associates also have many competitors such as Bayer, Hoecht, Corning, Dow and Du-Pont and others. Even those competitors still have some companies used Gore-Tex fabric to their products such as Berghaus, Karrimor and North
