Kwajalein Loses All Connections To Outside World Will all Kwajalein residents go off the grid as of March? This apprehension amplifies more and more everyday as March creeps up on us. Last week, January 24th, Colonel DeOre Jr. has publicly announced that some significant modifications will happen regarding Kwajalein's residential phone services starting March 1st. Supporting Colonel DeOre's decision, according to two star General McCrery, 67 percent of military garrisons around the pacific have already discontinued long distance calls. Thus, Kwajalein in the upcoming months will do as well. Colonel DeOre explains, "Commanding Generals from IMCOM, Space and Missile Defense Command (SMDC), and Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) have each submitted a waiver request to the Department of the Army to allow NETCOM to continue provide local Atoll-wide calling and 911 services."
