Should you ever have an opportunity to visit South Florida, there is one organization that will stick out. It is a local organization called Baptist Health South Florida. There are very few places around here that you won’t immediately see their company logo of a white pineapple on a green background. The pineapple has had a long-standing meaning of hospitality since the renaissance period so the logo on a hospital is quite fitting. You will see it on billboards, buildings, or even on someone’s clothing. They have 7 hospitals, over 40 doctors’ offices and their outpatient facilities exceed 50 locations. The company’s corporate culture is heavy in morals and integrity. First it helps the local economy by being one of the top employers in South Florida and is nationally recognized as being one of the best places to work. This recognition has been made by Fortune Magazine and Modern Healthcare Magazine. Additionally, Baptist is well known for its charitable contributions. Last year alone the amount in charity exceeded 300 million dollars. This was 5 times the value of their tax exemption for being a not-for-profit organization and turned out to be 4.3% of their total patient revenue (Baptist Health South Florida, n.d.). Baptist Health South Florida truly exemplifies one of true moral and ethical behaviors. So much so, that this is the 7th year that it has been named among the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute.
