Patient confidentiality refers to the right of a person or an individual to have his or her personal and identifiable medical information need to be kept private (Association, 2015). The information of the patient will not be disclosed to anybody else apart from the health care provider or physician who have identified patient health or condition of the body. The personal and medical information can only be disclosed if a patient have given a mandate for his or her information to be shared but if he restricted his or her information from being shared, then it means no one is permitted to have that information shared.

In addition, if he has recorded Mary’s father information in his computer, then he is required to change his computer’s password regularly and also make sure that information is encrypted with key to prevent anyone from accessing that information. Moreover, he should also follow the ethics and policies set by the hospital concerning on how the principle of confidentiality need to be adhered to and what one is expected to protect the privacy of the patients. Therefore, having an obligation of confidentiality then it prevent the health care provider from disclosing patient information. Moreover, they have a duty of reporting any breach of confidence to hospital’s administration so that a solution cannot be found. In addition, the nurse have an ethical obligation of respecting other people. Therefore, as a nurse one must respect show value and dignity to colleagues and patients and treat all people despite their personal attributes. Thus, in this case of Dr. Curious he was supposed to show respect to nurses, that is, avoid threatening their lives. In addition, they have ethical responsibility of being honest and maintaining self-integrity and high moral standards.
Moreover, they have that obligation of safeguarding of health and personal information with an aim of keeping good patient-nurse relationship.
