1. How does “Casablanca” support the war effort? Recall any scenes or lines that contain pro-war messages.
Casablanca starts as a news reel. You see a slowly turning globe that highlights the ally countries and the axis countries during WW II. Also, there is a documentary-style narration at the beginning of the movie, which sets the tone for a war time movie. Also, there is a scene in the movie where Germans are at Rick’s bar sing a German song. Then Victor causes the bar band to begin playing a patriotic French song, which quickly over takes the sound of the German soldiers’ voices. I believe this scene in the movie portrays Casablanca as begin a pro-war movie. It shows that although it may take time the ally forces while overcome the Germans.
2. Do you think Ilsa really loves Victor? What makes you think yes or no?
I believe that Ilsa does love Victor but the foundation for that love is rooted in loyalty due solely on the relationship that Ilsa and Victor have shared concerning their escape from the Germans. During Rick and Ilsa conversation while she was trying to get the letters of transit from Rick her love for Victor is made clear. She is in love with the institution in which he stands for and the cause for which he is fighting.
3. Do you think Victor knows what really happened between Rick and Ilsa? Explain.
I believe the Victor is aware that something happened between Rick and Ilsa, and that what happened was an intimate experience. However, at the same time Victor also knows that Ilsa is loyal towards him and what he is fighting for.
4. Which of the men do you think loves Ilsa more? Victor or Rick? Why?
I think that Rick loved Ilsa more because in the end he was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice by letting go of Ilsa. Towards the end of the movie Rick is left to make the decision regarding who will get the letters of transit as a result of Ilsa inability to decide what to do. Rick realizes that Victor should leave because of the importance of the cause that he is fighting for and the Ilsa should go with him. Rick’s decision concerning Ilsa is due to knowing that she would be safer and better of leaving with Victor then staying with him.
5. How do you explain the scenes at the airport?
He wasn't always this angry. He did so some good or tried to, but people didn't look at it that way. They just thought he was a monster by the way he looked. The creature states "I look upon crime as a distance of evil, benevolence and generosity were ever present before me. (101)" he really wanted to be good. When he burned that families house down it was out of anger. He seen the way they interacted with each other and wanted the same. He wanted a family, so he can he happy like everyone else. So, when he told Victor to create female creature for him. I think that was a good idea. He would have someone to love and to care for him. He wouldn't have felt as much as an outsider and he wouldn't be so lonely. Then they probably would have had kids, so they would have had the family he wanted from the beginning. When Victor killed the female creature, I think he was wrong because there could have been a way better way he could have dealt with that situation. I feel as if Victor's actions were different then the creature's actions would have been different the creature's actions would have been

Casablanca was directed in an era almost entirely dedicated to propaganda, as far as the film industry is concerned. The movie promoted America and the Allies similar to most films of the time, but it did so in a much different manner. The story told in Casablanca follows the main character, Rick, through his personal affairs and love tango with another lead character, Ilsa Lund. The film begins with Rick alone running his saloon based in Casablanca, in which he seems very indifferent to other people’s affairs, and comes off as very exclusive. He is delivered letters of transit by a man named Ugarte, which are nearly priceless to any refugee desiring to flee to the United States or another unoccupied country. In chapter five, Victor comes face to face with his creation. He becomes horrified and disgusted with the creature, and therefore he abandons him.
...o survive and flee the inevitable evil. With World War II raging, viewers in the United States could feel the fear and anxieties as well as compassion for the characters. Although some movies can be rewritten to obtain a better effect over the viewers, Casablanca cannot be redone. The mere fact that the evil of the day was a reality of the time prevents this movie from ever having the same effect on the audience.
Baird and Kaufmann, the editors of our text, explain in their outline of Descartes' epistemology that the method by which the thinker carried out his philosophical work involved first discovering and being sure of a certainty, and then, from that certainty, reasoning what else it meant one could be sure of. This system was unique, according to the editors, in part because Descartes was not afraid to face doubt. Despite the fact that it was precisely doubt of which he was endeavoring to rid himself, he nonetheless allowed it the full reign it deserved and demanded over his intellectual labors. "Although uncertainty and doubt were the enemies," say Baird and Kaufmann (p.16), "Descartes hit upon the idea of using doubt as a tool or as a weapon. . . . He would use doubt as an acid to pour over every 'truth' to see if there was anything that could not be dissolved . . . ." This test, they explain, resulted for Descartes in the conclusion that, if he doubted everything in the world there was to doubt, it was still then certain that he was doubting; further, that in order to doubt, he had to exist. His own existence, therefore, was the first truth he could admit to with certainty, and it became the basis for the remainder of his epistemology.
Entering a war is an effort that is best when it has popular support and enthusiasm. Casablanca is propaganda for the Allied forces to help rally support. There is clear evidence of this idea in the scene with the French national anthem, the character development, and the ending. France and the United States prevail as Germany falls and dies.

Hip Hop culture has been the same throughout the years, such as expressing themselves, in their songs there are always themes and hinted quotes they tell their audiences on how they feel or what they did. Also in Hip Hop one of the biggest stereotypes is selling drugs. The film Notorious displays, what Hip Hop Culture is, such as rapping to express themselves and portrayal of drugs.
The longevity of Hip-Hop as a cultural movement can most directly be attributed to its humble roots. For multiple generations of young people, Hip-Hop has directly reflected the political, economic, and social realities of their lives. Widely regarded as the “father” of the Hip-Hop, Afrika Bambaataa named the cultural movement and defined its four fundamental elements, which consisted of disc jockeying, break dancing, graffiti art, and rapping. Dating back to its establishment Hip-Hop has always been a cultural movement. Defined by far more then just a style of music, Hip-Hop influences fashion, vernacular, philosophy, and the aesthetic sensibility of a large portion of the youth population (Homolka 2010).
