Career Readiness Every high school student has to eventually choose a college they want to attend. I’ve considered many colleges and universities that provide a good nursing program, and I’ve decided that I would like to attend Texas Tech University. Texas Tech, home of the Red Raiders, has a nursing program that is ranked very highly in the state of Texas, and will benefit me in the medical field. Texas Tech University has certain requirements and admissions to be accepted into their school. To be able to get accepted into Tech, class rank must be in the top ten percent. I would like to study to become an RN, and the amount that an RN gets paid depends on the degree they receive. The higher degree you have in nursing the higher the pay. RN’s can work with all age groups and are taught many skills to care for patients. RN’s can work at a clinics or hospitals. Nurses that choose to work in a hospital usually have more work hours. Registered Nurses get to choose in which area they want to work in, whether if it’s in the emergency room, intensive care unit, baby nursery, etc. I’ve decided that I want some of my long range goals to be, going to Texas Tech to get my bachelor’s degree in nursing, which will be at least six years of nursing school. I want to become an RN so that I have more work opportunities so that I can help in labor and delivery, the nursery, and I also what to become skilled in pediatric nursing so that I can work with children in the hospitals. Texas Tech will be a very beneficial university for me and choosing this college has helped me become one step closer to achieving my future
