This article is about the effects fast food has on cardio metabolic risk factors. The topics that are discussed include the increase of fast food consumption and the correlation that has with overweight. The nutrition information of processed food is carefully examined along with the effects it produces on the health of a consumer. Children and adolescents are the focus in the effects processed food generates. The increase in mortality rates and hospital admissions is analyzed along with an increase in processed foods. The methods utilized in this study have continuously been reviewed and published from 1990 to 2014. The information in this article is obtained with quantitative research. Most of the information is acquired by clinical studies and sources such as Medline, PubMed, and Scopus. This article will help support my points in my research paper because it supports the idea that processed food is unhealthy and has long term effects on daily consumers.

The first group is unprocessed or minimally processed foods, the second is processed culinary or food industry ingredients, and the third is ultra-processed food products. The results of the studies shows that processed food has various consequences to the health of consumers. The risk of certain diseases and illnesses increases when consuming processed foodson a daily basis. The significance of the results from the study proves that processed foods have negative social, cultural, and environmental impacts on consumers. The methods that were utilized to test those concepts are the examination of the three household expenditure surveys that were carried out by the Brazilian Federal Bureau of Geography and Statistics from March 1987 to June 2003.
