Car Stereos
I. Almost everyone has a car stereo of some sort in their automobile, however not everyone understands how they are put together.
A. Has anyone ever been sitting at a red light while being annoyed by the person next to you, or behind you with their bass so loud it shakes your rear view mirror? Well I am going to explain how that works.
B. I have been installing car stereos for around a couple of years now. It started off with just installing my own and progressed to doing or helping all of my other friends install them in their car.
C. Most peoples extent of knowledge of car stereos is that of “ If I put the CD in the CD player then the sounds come out of the speakers.” However what they do not understand is that a car stereo is an intricate system of wires, amps, and acoustics that all come together to produce the right sound.
D. Throughout this speech I will introduce everyone to the wires used in a car stereo, how those wires are used, and some tools that are needed in the installation of a car stereo.
II. A car stereo is broken down into two main parts.
A. There are a number of wires necessary for a car stereo to produce
Sound.
1. The RCA wires are the wires that relay the sound from the receiver to the amp. These are connected to from the back of the CD player to the RCA jacks on the side of the amp.
2. The power wire is the main source of power for the amp. This wire is connected to the main positive terminal on the cars battery and run through a fuse and finally to the amp.

A 1996 Ford Mustang next to my car revs the engine and my mind loses interest in the squirrel and moves to the cars next to and opposite of me. These cars remain perpendicular to the lanes but are moving freely to their destination and seem to be mocking the stationary cars at the red light. The BMW reacts by slowly creeping up as close to the edge of the intersection as possible.
The simple car that was easy to fix with some simple tools have now become as complex as a supercomputer on wheels. Most people today have decided that automobiles of today are too complicated and just send their cars to a professional for repairs. As of January 2013, the average age of a vehicle operating on the roads today is 11.4 years old. (Associated Press, 2013). People are holding on to their cars a lot longer than in the past. Although, some claim that it is because today’s cars last longer. There is no doubt that today’s economy is also playing a part in the public’s reluctance to part with their older vehicles. However, cars will always need repairs.
Automobiles are American's second largest investment after real estate. It is impoprtant to understand how to keep your car performing at its best.

2. The combination of a surround sound system and CD quality sound is best realized when listening to musicals like “Singing in the Rain”, or action films with a lot of sound effects, such as “Starship Troopers.”
It is utterly selfish to change the radio station when there are living entities in the lanes surrounding me. If not used properly a car can be a lethal weapon. So, it is imperative that I follow the road laws and my attention is solely focused on driving. Before this happened, I didn’t even think messing with my stereo system could lead to an accident but my eyes were opened through this car collision. From now on I try to make sure the car in front of me and I are separated by a large but appropriate amount of space and focus on the road. Life is too precious to let my mind wander on subjects such as changing the song, brushing my hair, taking a call, or even reaching for my water bottle in order to hydrate. There are a time and a place for everything. With that being said, these petty distractions can be put on hold in order to cruise safely.
