Calle Hales went on date with a man she did not identify. Between there first and second date, he would text her, asking specifics about what she does at the Women’s Clinic she works at. On the second date, Calle knew something was different with him. Later that evening, her date raped her in her car. He wrapped the seatbelt around her neck, and bit her. He said things like, “you deserve this,” and “you should have expected this.” He called her a murder.
A few days later, she visited an emergency room and was seen by a SANE (sexual assault nurse examiner). She didn’t want to press charges because “I didn't know if I could survive the mental and emotional trauma of a court case at the time.” Not long later, she began receiving messages and

She changes her outfits, hair, wears colored contacts one day and glasses the next, and continues to change her look daily so she isn’t easily recognizable.
It’s sad that women are raped daily. But, this attacker didn’t just leave it at that one night. He continued to harass this woman after it was over. Calle was emotionally abused as well as physically. You can’t help but feel so sorry for her after reading this article.
But, let’s not miss the issue that lead up to this attack: women’s rights. I’m going to be honest, I am pro-choice. I think it’s a women’s choice what she does to her body. Men don’t have to push a baby out of them and carry a life inside of them for 9 months. It isn’t fair for them to judge women because of their choices. This man is crazy for thinking raping women is the same as an abortion. Rape is often what leads women to get an abortion. Ironic? How many single mothers are out there compared to single fathers? Yeah, it’s pretty easy to say that a lot of men run when life gets hard, especially when they aren’t tied down by legal contracts, like a marriage license. I’m sure many of those male protestors have had unprotected sex with women and never gave it a second thought about what would have happened if she became
On the night of August 31st 1986, Angelique Lavallee a battered 21 year-old woman in an unstable common law relationship was charged with murder. She shot her spouse, Kevin Rust in the back of the head while he was leaving the bedroom. Angelique was in fear for her life after being taunted with the gun and was threaten to be killed. Hence, she felt that she had to kill him or be killed by him. The psychiatrist Dr. Shane, did an assessment and concluded that she was being terrorized by her partner. Dr. Shane concluded that Angelique was physically, sexually, emotionally and verbally abused. As a result, in the psychiatrist’s opinion, the killing was a final desperate act by a woman who seriously believed she would be killed that night. This in turn identify her as a
A horrific murder happened in tiny Skidmore on December of 2004. Lisa Montgomery and Bobbi Jo Stinnett met and found out that they had much in common and became good friends (Nunes 85-86). Surprisingly, Bobbi and Lisa met in an internet chat room. Bobbi was into puppy breeding and she occasionally served as a judge. Lisa lived in Kansas where her close friends were shocked about what she was talking about. Of course, Lisa shrugged it off and she sent an email to Bobbi saying that she wanted to see the puppies (Nunes 85-86). When Lisa met Bobbi Jo she had a fake name which was Darlene Fisher because she didn’t want Bobbi to know her real identity. When Lisa sent Bobbi the email she had a criminal intent on her mind. She was planning to choke Bobbi into unconsciousness and then cut open her womb and steal Bobbi’s unborn baby. When Lisa arrived at the house she threw a rope around Bobbi’s neck and choked her until she was unconscious. That is when Lisa took a knife and started to cut open Bobbi’s stomach. Lisa had to cut through skin, fat, and muscle to get to Bobbi’s uterus. Bobbi’s baby was in eight-month gestation; Lisa cut and tied the baby’s cord. Lisa stole the baby and fled to her house in Kansas. Unfort...

Famed cello player, Herman E. Calloway had an unexpected surprise at his band, rehearsal last week. His 10 year old grandson, Bud, had arrived from Flint to meet him. Bud traveled almost 115 miles to see his grandfather for the first time. “Where was his mother?” you might ask. Bud’s mother had died 4 years before after a deadly disease struck. Bud has an amazing story. After his mother’s death, he was put into “The Home”, an orphanage for young boys. After his third foster family put him in a shed infested with bees, Bud decided it was time to find his father. Before his mother had died, she left him a flyer with whom Bud assumed was his father, Herman E. Calloway. He attempted to take a train to Grand Rapids but missed it and tried to walk
Early on the 29th of September in 1995 Yamika Suzanne Elliot was raped in her home. The assailant was approximately six feet tall, with light skin, and dark hair, thick, with a little gut. He was wearing a red and blue flannel, black jeans, white gloves, and a white nylon over his face. (Ted Bradford) In his possession, he had a slight black bag, the known contents limited to handcuffs he used to restrain Ms. E during the assault. When the perpetrator entered the residence, he came upon the victim holding her child whom she then attempted to run with. The man grabbed her and put her on the floor covering her face, she was informed she should not look at him but she was allowed to place her child in their crib. He
I sat on the prosecutor's bench clutching my notebook full of poorly deciphered legal terms that my boss briefed me on prior to entering the courtroom. I nervously surveyed the atmosphere of the courtroom at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice in Detroit, Michigan. I was an intern for an assistant prosecutor who worked in the sexual crimes unit. This unit was a difficult unit to be a part of. Every day a new series of sexual assault cases are presented, each with a new victim and perpetrator. That specific day, a young girl was the victim of an online dating app meet-up that went wrong.

To most Americans Rape has a tendency to be one of the cruelest forms of criminal violence. The victim can suffer from incredible injuries, and substantial amounts of embarrassment. Rendered powerless by physical force, threats, or fear, after which being forced to submit to sexual acts, including vaginal penetration, oral copulation, sodomy, and penetration opening with a foreign object, the victim is left virtually alone. Rape is an intrusion into the most private and intimate parts of the body, as well as an assault on the core of the self. Whether or not the victim acquires any physical injuries, the psychological impact of a sexual assault is severe. Additionally, the painful, post-trauma symptoms that usually always accompany rape are long-lasting. Even the victims who seem to have been able to move on with their life often find that an extreme feeling of powerlessness and vulnerability remains close and can easily, and unexpectedly, be re-experienced. A most important aspect in the long-term impact of rape is that the assault negatively changes the victim...

It all started on the evening of December 7, 1982. A young waitress in her twenties, named Debbie Carter, had taken off of her shift early at a local Ada bar. She proceeded to enjoy a few drinks with several old high school friends before heading home shortly after midnight. Debbie was last seen having a confrontation with a man who was a regular at the bars as she got into her vehicle. The waitress’s friends had asked her to come join a group of them going to back to one of the friend’s houses to continue the hanging out; Debbie declined, but about 2:30a.m., her friend, Gina received two calls back to back from Debbie. Through all the n...
Once again, I was planned to interview Smith. However, that was not success. Instead, Smith and I spoke about life stories over lunch. We ate lunch at Sonics. While driving to Sonic, we engaged in a conversation about Smith’s working environment. Smith and a co-worker were having some issues. Shockingly, this conversation lead to us talking about Smith’s childhood. Smith was raised by her grandparents. This is something we have in common. Smith did not have a good relationship with her mother. However, her relationship with her father is decent. As we converse, Smith explained why her grandparents raised her. Also, she explained why her relationship with her mother is poor. Smith was raped as a child. The story about Smith being raped was detailed. Smith was raped at her aunt’s birthday party. After the birthday party, Smith started cleaning her aunt’s trailer. Her aunt was heavily intoxicated. After cleaning, Smith heard her aunt’s boyfriend call her name. She went to check on he wanted. Christine found the boyfriend standing bedroom naked. The aunt’s boyfriend stated, “come here.” Smith refused. The aunt’s boyfriend grabbed Smith & threw her on the same bed. Next, he started to rape her. Smith’s aunt was in the same bed unconscious because she was drunk. Smith’s aunt was so intoxicated that she did not wake up while Smith was being raped. Later that night, Smith’s mother picked up Smith and her sibling. Smith
What a disgusting scenario when children are placed in the care of others, only to be abused. He didn’t reveal the consequences of the rape; undoubtedly, he held on to that pain as well.
