Many students were curious on the surge of law enforcement that were patrolling the streets of Sacramento on August 30th. On that afternoon, reports confirm that two California Highway Patrol officers and a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department deputy were shot on 2600 block of Auburn Boulevard. Deputy Robert French suffered fatal injuries in the shootout and died on the way to the hospital at the age of 52. Robert was a 21-year veteran to the force, and has worked as a training officer in the north area patrol unit. The other two California Highway Patrol officers still remain hospitalized.
