By-Products: What By Animals Are Fed To Our Pets?

It is commonly known that certain animals are reared from birth to be slaughtered so that humans can have enough to consume, but where does all of that meat go? Sure some of it ends up on our dinner table as turkey or ham, but what about the “other” parts? To answer this, it is essential to first understand what animal by-products are.

Animal by-products are what are left of a slaughtered animal after the parts intended for human consumption have been removed (“The Truth”). These by-products are important because they are commonly used in our dogs’ food; our cheap dog food, to be more specific, but is this really a healthy meat substitute for our pets?

The problem is that these by-products are fed to our pets because they are considered inedible by many cultures. These by-products include feet, backs, livers, lungs, heads, brains, spleen, frames, kidneys, stomachs, intestines, and underdeveloped eggs (“The Truth”). What us as humans are unwilling to eat, we are willing to feed to our pets. There is something wrong with this.
