In the short film Sherlock Jr., director Buster Keaton did an exceptional job with displaying continuity and discontinuity between shots. The use of continuity editing in this film really paves the way for the audience to have a very easy and flowing experience while watching. This film would be very hard to follow if it had no continuity. The director also uses many editing tricks to give the film a greater sense of continuity to the plot of the story. Throughout the movie, no matter how many times the scenes changed, we always knew what was going on because of how smooth the story line was and because of the continuity. One of the ways discontinuity was shown in the film was in one of the scenes, we see Sherlock in the middle of the screen
