Although there are numerous companies to choose from, I wanted to choose a company that interests me and that I can somehow relate to. The company I have chosen to investigate is Land O’Lakes because I love anything dairy, particularly cheese. Anyone who knows me knows that I love cheese more than just about anything else. While Land O’Lakes is known primarily for its butter and margarine, their products also include cheese, milk, sour cream, and eggs. Another company does not own this company, however, Land O’Lakes does own other companies such as Purina Mills who produces animal feeds. Land O’Lakes is a member-owned company that was founded in 1921 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There are 10,000 employees in all 50 states as well as in more than …show more content…

This bill “requires the Department of the Army and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in the interest of protecting traditional navigable waters from water pollution, to adhere to certain principles and take specified actions in proposing any regulation revising the definitions of "waters of the United States" and "navigable waters". Polluted water can drain into farmers’ fields and ruin their crops. It can also harm the animals if they are drinking the water. Certain actions must be taken to prevent navigable waters from being polluted. If this bill is not passed, water quality could continue to decline making business harder for companies like Land O’Lakes to produce quality products. While the outcomes of these two bills have not yet been determined, I believe lobbying plays a big role in what the outcomes will be. In the case of the Federal Water Quality Protection Act I think it’s helping because I would think more people are for it rather than against it in the first place, but if there weren’t quite enough people in the beginning who were for it, it would add that extra support. I believe lobbying is helping more in the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act of 2015 because it is a more controversial topic. Some people are indifferent to the idea of all foods being labeled accurately, specifically regarding GMOs.
