1. Escarpment Definition: Parts of land that are divided at different levels because of erosion and faulting. Sentence: Jamestown would have been in even worse conditions if escarpment had happened before the colonists arrived on land. 2. Buffer zone Definition: Used as a boundary to prevent disagreements amongst different regions. Sentence: The soviet built a buffer zone between themselves and Eastern Europe in order to protect themselves from any attacks. 3. Pandemic Definition: A wide expansion of a disease or an effect causing damage everywhere. Sentence: When Europeans arrived to America they brought a disease of smallpox of which created a pandemic amongst the Indians. 4.
