In The Tragedy Of Julius Caesar written by William Shakespeare, the leader Caesar is killed by a group of men who are close to him. He was killed because the group of men thought he was not fit to be the ruler of Rome. Brutus, a close friend of Caesar, was a part of the group. Even though Brutus betrayed Caesar, it shows he cares about others more than himself. This proves Brutus is a better leader for Rome and its people. One reason why Brutus is a better leader is because he is just as good as Caesar was. Brutus was a nobleman for Caesar and was also close to him. Since Brutus was a part of the conspirators that does not make him a bad person. He did it because he cares for the people and nit just himself. In the story Brutus says,” Let us be sacrificers but not butchers, Caius.” He said this to Caius because he wanted them to know Caesar was killed for a reason. He also did not want the people of Rome to think the conspirators were murders. A third reason why Brutus is a better leader is because he knew that Caesar looked like a good ruler but it was all an act. He thinks that once Caesar becomes king he will change his attitude towards the people. In the story Brutus is describing Caesar and he says, ”Would run to these and these extremities. And therefore think him as a serpent’s egg—Which, hatched, would as his kind grow mischievous—And kill him in the shell. He is describing Caesar as a snake before it hatches because after it has hatched it can hurt people. After the conspirators killed Caesar, Antony asked to give Caesar a funeral. Before Antony spoke, Brutus explained to the people what had just happened. After the speech, one plebian said,” Let him be Caesar!” Another one said, ”Caesars better qualities exist in Brutus, and we will crown him.” The people knew Brutus was a good leader and that he loved the people.
