Mcdonald has planned for a railway to be made. This railway could bring new immigrants and more civilians to British North America. The railway will unite east and west making it easier to go to each colony. John A. Mcdonald has promised to build the railway only if British Colombia agrees to join confederation. The railway will symbolize as unity and strength for British North America. Threat Of America Invasion The Civil War has broken out in the United States. Many of us are worried that it will expand into British North America. We believe if we join Confederation, such attacks won’t surface. The war is between southern states called the Confederacy and the northern states called the Union. British North America has ended up being divided for their support. Many of us have volunteered to the Union. The Union is against slavery. The Annexation bill has also been passed by the United States house of representatives saying that the United States can and will take the land of British North America. Apparently, we are too much to handle and we are costly. The little Englanders [local small group] said we are a big burden to Britain. They are suggesting we handle our own issues; meaning we join confederation. Confederation will stabilize our economy because we’ll be able to sell more goods without being dictated by the Britain. We’ll have a better military that we can spend on with how much money we desire.
