Differentiation can take many forms, including prestige or brand image, which Dansk decided to implement. Their product line consists of eight product categories, which include flatware, china, linen, glass, decorator cookware, and wooden bowls and trays. Their products are of high quality and are highly priced. Dansk was able to achieve a differentiation advantage because their price premiums exceeded the extra costs of being unique. Dansk is able to create these unique products because of the talented designers they employ, including Jens Quisrgaard, Niels Refsgaard, and Gunnar Cyren. Another competitive advantage of a strategy of differentiation is the ability to deal with supplier power. There is a certain amount of status associated with being the supplier to a producer of differentiated products. Dansk’s principal supplier, Richard Nissen, has enjoyed working with Dansk because he believes they have been able to “preserve the handcrafted nature of the products”.

Well we all know that when something is cheap and inexpensive, it does not mean that it is always the most reliable and it may create more problems for Toyota in the future. With that being said there is a very good possibility that customers who purchase vehicles from Toyota will have problems with them more frequently due to the lower quality parts being used. Then when the customers bring their vehicles back with problems, Toyota is going to replace the non functioning part with another cheap and inexpensive part, allowing them to save money, instead of putting a quality part in. Another factor that would hinder the success of the business would be the fact that the company is going to be spending as little money as possible on the required tools that the vehicle mechanics at Toyota need in order to repair their vehicles when maintenance is required, resulting in the possibility that the employees will not being able to accomplish all the necessary maintenance or repairs to the highest standards or best of their ability due to having limited tools. The current circumstances have made us re-think about the governance of our company. To resolve certain issues like spread of our businesses, incompetent management, improper structure and high attrition rate has been addressed here. The strategic options evaluated are Divesting from some of the businesses, Re structuring the management by giving generalised top management or using specialized management. The options are evaluated on the basis of cash position, future projection, Repute preservation and efficient functioning of management. On the basis of these, I recommend to divest from irrelevant and non-performing businesses. This will ensure company’s smooth running and sustained profitability.
My report is on the company Hewlett – Packard (HP) which was founded in 1939. I mainly focused on the Personal Systems Group (PSG): business and consumers PCs mobile computing devices and workstations which is one of the major industries of HP. In order to succeed in the business industry a company needs to understand its customer’s needs and create wants for them. HP found out that the customer needed light weight, useful notebook PCs through its Research & Development (R&D) centre. Hence, it created a want; a New Commercial Notebook PC Compaq Evo Notebook N1015v which packs the power and performance necessary for mobility into a stylish design for only $899(US $). HP also finds out about its customer needs through online feedback forms and survey. Via that, HP was also able to understand that not everyone are able to use their products hence it has created this HP accessibility products which can be accessed by anyone including people with disabilities and age – limitations.
