When LeBron James was born, nobody would have guessed that he would have been the one to go all the way to the NBA and perform like he does. He has amazing talent and he knows how to use it. And what's so amazing about how he went all the way to the NBA, is he was living in a state of poverty with trouble all around him and still managed to make it tontine big times.Even though the odds of how he lived were against him, LeBron James managed to put his talent first and become one of the best basketball players in the world.
LeBron James was born December 30, 1984 in a poor neighborhood in Akron, Ohio (Smithwick 6). His mother gave birth to him when she was 16 and still in high school (Smithwick 6). All this goes back to how he was born in a poor neighborhood and the odds were definitely against him to make it where he is in life. James was the son of Gloria James and Anthony McCelland. James never knew his biological father, but his mom’s boyfriend was the closest thing he ever had to a dad, but he was put in jail for two years, so he wasn't to much of one, his mom was everything to him(Newsmakers B1). LeBron and his mom were always moving, so it didn't give him much time to get in trouble or hang out with the wrong people. He later started a family of his own while having his first son on October 6, 2004 with, at the time, Savannah Brinson, his name was LeBron , Jr (Biography D1). Just think if James would not have been born in such a poor and terrible neighborhood, he may not have fight in him to have made it. And if he didn’t play sports as a child he might have got in trouble just because he was in such a terrible neighborhood, so sports kept his mind occupied and he didn’t get into too much trouble. James tried to help his neighborhood out by donating 1000 backpacks to the Akron and Cleveland areas (Contemporary C6). He knows how it is to live in a life like that, he wants to do everything to help, even though he really didn’t have anybody to help him. Even though the odds were against him he used that talent and went all the way.
Lebron James is a well known professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lebron is often referred to as one of the greatest to ever pick up a basketball. Lebron makes money from playing basketball but a substantial amount of his income comes from sponsorships and endorsement deals with outside brands. This is where his social media plays a huge part of his life.
During the time of Michael Jordan and the now present Lebron James American culture has changed a lot. Both of these two superstars show how American society love and appreciate their superstars. The society loves them both, they are both amazingly talented and have supporting fans that will always be by their side no matter what happens, through the peaks and valleys. As a senior in high school he was selected to the McDonald’s All-American Team, and then later accepted a scholarship to play for the University of North Carolina. After three seasons of college ball in which he averaged almost 18 points and 5 rebounds a game. He was selected 3rd overall in the 1984 NBA draft by the Chicago Bulls after Hakeem Olajuwon (a hall of fame center with the Houston Rockets) and Sam Bowie (considered a major bust by the Portland Trail Blazers).
Usain Bolt is known as the “fastest man alive.” Usain Bolt was just a normal Jamaican kid, but he wanted more. He pushed himself the be the very best. Now no competitor can even get close to accomplishments, determinations, sacrifice, and pure talent (“Usain Bolt”). He won nine gold medals as a predominant champion at the 2008, 2012, and the 2016 Summer Games. LeBron is one of the most popular basketball player known in the United States of America. Most people do not know Lebron James’s story. LeBron James basically grew up without a father. His father was arrested several times for drug problems. His mother struggled with finding a job and battled with money to provide for her family as a single mother. Going to bed hungry was not uncommon for LeBron James and his siblings. LeBron wanted to make a difference in his life and his families’ life (“LeBron James’s life story”). Our culture today classify the athletes as “insanity,” but each of these individuals were completely lively.
When he was a child his father “left for the gas station to get cigarettes” and has yet to return, before his father left he had abused him. His mother was a stay at home mom, she was barely able to provide for them. But when he entered college that all changed because of his dominance in the sport of basketball and he was such a big guy people were scared to bully him. In high school his report card grades dropped because he was bullied so much but even after they plummeted he was still a straight D student. But in college he was a straight A student with honors, all three times he went to college he got honors.
He was drafted straight out of high school in the 2003-04 season, by the Cleveland Cavaliers. James is already on the road to success by achieving co-rookie of the year, and he appeared in the Olympics. James is expected to be a champion, but he may not have what it takes to become a real champion, such as Michael Jordan was. Before Jordan or James can be categorized as a champion, they have to be able to handle pressure, fame, and maintain a positive relationship with their team. When comparing Jordan and James’ clutch capabilities, or their ability to handle pressure at key times, Jordan has the upper hand.
We learned that many people had to fight their way back into getting jobs. They had to work 200 times harder, and that is exactly what James did. He pushed himself to get through it.
I believe had he not had the determination to succeed in his life, he would not be where he is today. We have learned that our own individual personality can drive our sense of direction. The choices James made during his childhood were not his fault, he did not have the parental guidance during his developmental stage. Amazingly, he conquered all obstacles to become successful. The main contributors that lead to Kobe Bryant’s success is his hard work and dedication, his mindset, his natural ability’s and talent, and the people that have helped him throughout his life. Kobe Bryant was very successful in the NBA because of the amount of hard work he has put in, the people in his life, his relentless determination and his god given natural abilities.

Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York. Jordan's family moved to moved to Wilmington, North Carolina while he was young along with his three siblings. He attended Ogden Elementary School, and later Trask Junior High School. Jordan attended Emsley A. Laney High School, where he anchored his athletic career by playing baseball, football, and basketball ("Michael Jordan" Wikipedia). When jordan was twelve, he played with his local baseball team called the Babe Ruth All-stars. Jordan helped his team win there championship (Mattern 79). As A freshman at Laney, Jordan was cut from the varsity team and was reduced to playin junior varsity. His sophmore year he was cut from the varsity team once again, but this time, his best friend Leroy Smith, made the team. When Michael found out he did not make the team, he said:

Stephen Curry, currently one of the best players in the NBA, experienced an obstacle when he was not to a top college. Rather than seeing this as an end to his NBA dreams, he overcame this obstacle by turning it in to an opportunity. As a member of the Davidson College team, the underdogs at the 2008 NCAA tournament, he was able to demonstrate his skills during his teams dream run to the final 8. Through his shooting prowess and never give up mentality he showed the basketball world his ability to change the course of a game. Had he not been challenged by this obstacle he may not have had the opportunity to demonstrate his skills, with this opportunity acting as a catalyst for many more in the future.
