William Henry Gates also known as Bill Gates is the founder of Microsoft Corporation. At age 13 Bill Gates started showing interest in computer programming. In time he and his partner, Paul Allen had created one of the largest business in the world.
William (Bill) Henry Gates III was born in Seattle, Washington on October 28, 1955. Bill Gates grew up in Seattle, Washington along with two sisters, Kristianne and Libby. Their father, William Henry Gates Sr. was a Seattle Attorney and their mother, Mary Maxwell Gates was a school teacher at University of Washington as well as chairwoman of United Way international. There he began to show interest in computer programming. The school provided computer time for the students. The computers were teletype terminals and Bill became fascinated in the computer and its capabilities and had spent most of his free time experimenting on them. Bill had written a tic-tac-toe program on the BASIC computer that allowed the user to play against the computer. Bill began programming computers at the age 13 when he met Paul Allen at Lakeside who was his two year senior. The two showed the same interest over computers and quickly became friends even thought they were very different from each other. They both used much of their free time working on programs. Bill and Paul would periodically fight over who would run the lab or who was right. One time one of their arguments had ascended so much Paul had banned Bill from the computer lab. Another time Allen and Gates computer privileges were removed because they were using glitches to obtain more time for using the computers. After their trial they were allowed back into the lab after they had offered to debug the programs. During the 1970’s when Bill was age 15 when he and Paul had created a company called “Traf-o-Data” a computer program that monitored the traffic arrangements in Seattle and gained $20,000 for their efforts.
