This paper is about Tupac Shakur one of music history’s greatest artist. He was born in New York City,1971 East Harlem to be exact. His mother was an activist and a part of the Black Panther movement so she raised Tupac with that mentality. Tupac had a pretty difficult childhood because he would move frequently around New York when he was young. He then participated in acting and became a member of the 127th Street Ensemble which was a Harlem-based theater company. Later in his teens he attended Baltimore School for the Arts where he took acting and dance classes. He then discovered rap while living in Baltimore and was performing under the name MC New York. He then dropped out of school at 17 and moved to the west coast, which was California in the 1980’s. Some people don’t know where Tupac Shakur was born because he would always portray as being from California even though he was from New York.
Throughout his career, Tupac Shakur was accused of being many things. He was called a gangster, a thug, a criminal. The list goes on and on. However, those are not the words which describe the real Tupac Shakur. Despite what may be assumed of him, the real Tupac Shakur could be described as a philanthropist. A civil rights leader. A dedicated citizen who cared for his community and future generations more than he cared for himself. The first responsibility that I think is very important is being a good example for your kids. Parents are examples for their kids whether they like it or not. My boys watch and copy everything that I do, and even if I don’t think their listening they are listening. If they see me finishing school and working a good job that’s what they will expect to do themselves because that is all that they know. Children are like sponges. I want to show my kids how to be a good person by being a good person myself. As a parent I want my children to know that they can be anything they want to be, but at the same time I am controlling their physical and moral environment so that they can be good people. I want them to be in an environment where they can develop habits of honesty, generosity, and responsibility.
