Bilbo was very late. He finally made up his mind to go on the adventure. He had ten minutes to meet up with the thirteen dwarves. Bilbo was not noticed very much on the beginning leg of the trip. Many dwarves doubted Bilbo abilities as a burglar. Later into the journey they find a light, but the burglar was sent because the dwarves would not go. Bilbo stayed in the shadows and saw three large trolls eating mutton. Mutton was the flesh of sheep and that was all the trolls ate. Trolls were hoping for meat other than sheep. * “A really first class and legendary burglar would would have at this point have picked the trolls pockets.”(page 35) In the middle of the pick pocketing Bilbo was caught. I have recently examined my latest patient, on OCtober 23 at 10:45 A.M. The patient has been accused with the murder of the old man. The patient admits to what he has done but his beliefs make him think that he is completely sane and not mad. “The disease had sharpened my senses-not destroyed-not dulled them”(Poe 203).
Many showed up in groups of three or four, so that Bilbo couldn’t just turn them all down. They later asked him to come on their adventure with them. The dwarves had told Bilbo about their treasure that was stolen and Bilbo suggested that they go to Lonely Mountain to reclaim it. Bilbo really doesn't want to but feels forced to go. They left a piece of Bilbo's notebook paper on his mantle under a clock showing all the dangers he might encounter. Gandalf had come to tell him that he was going to be late if he did not leave soon to be with the dwarves, causing him to feel forced to go. In the movie, however, Bilbo Baggins is presented with a contract from the others involving his burglar services that he will use on the journey with them. He grabs a backpack before he runs out to catch up with the others. This makes the movie more realistic because no normal person would go on an adventure without grabbing anything for the long journey ahead. Bilbo now had a few items from his hobbit hole that would remind him of his home. The book shows Bilbo as more of a reluctant hero. In the book, Bilbo finds the letter on the mantle and decides to go at the last minute. He seems to have felt pressured, resulting in just running out of the hole and not grabbing any of his belongings. He leaves
The dwarves were on a quest to find and reclaim their famous treasure from the great dragon Smaug. It would be a long and difficult journey, and they felt it would be made simpler with the help of a burglar. This was what Bilbo was for, even if he didn’t know it. Bilbo didn’t want to be on the adventure, let alone play a vital role in it. But by the time the story concluded, Bilbo had changed from a well-to-do homebody into a burglar.
Hobbits, and more specifically bilbo's family are not known for being adventurers. They usually just stay in their homes, farm, and do other things that reside in their town but Bilbo does not. “The Bagginses had lived in the neighbourhood of The Hill for time out of mind, and people considered them very respectable, not only because most of them were rich, but also because they never had any adventures or did anything unexpected.”(21) He wants to prove himself that he is courageous and brave better than the average Hobbit. A hero. Today, by definition, to be a hero is to have abundant power, defiance, to attain fame and wealth, and to have the intrepidity to help the ones who cannot defend for themselves. However, Bilbo Baggins, the protagonist of The Hobbit, by J.R.R Tolkien, grows to be a hero without possessing any of these qualities after he partakes in an adventure to help reclaim the Dwarves’ homeland from the dragon Smaug. This quest to the Lonely Mountain brings the indolent hobbit into a completely new world, where he faces trouble and experiences a region of supernatural wonder. Bilbo’s adequacy and heroism are shown in the adventure through his latent cunningness and courageous acts, and through the loyalty and devotion he shows to his companions.

Throughout the novel Grendel by John Gardner more than one philosophy is brought to Grendel’s consideration. Confused and lonely, Grendel’s inner conflict is not understanding what the meaning of life is. Grendel does not know whether he is supposed to believe the Shaper and priest’s philosophy of vision and purpose or to believe the dragon’s philosophy that there is no meaning to life.
One character that categorically comes to mind as responding to iniquity during the novel is Bilbo Baggins. The Hobbit, written by J. R. R. Tolkien, is a novel about Bilbo’s journey of self-discovery as he conquers challenges never faced before. Baggins search for injustice and problem solving helps the story evolve in the novel, as well as displays heroic efforts that no one expected from him in the beginning. Consequently, his substantial courageous actions, countless sacrifices, and unquestionable allegiance to the dwarves create a sense of justice that plays a vital role in the unity of characters in the novel.

J.R.R Tolkien's action packed, fantasy driven, inspiring novel The Hobbit shows the message that everyone must know, that you should never give up even if all hope seems to be lost. It shows setting of evergreen forests with villages scattered along the paths of which they must take and mountains just on the horizon. The read must go along with bilbo baggins a hobbit that does not realize there is more to him than just being a baggins and that he will live up to his family's name. Even after gandalf tells him that he will embark on a great adventure he still doesn’t believe he is anymore than just bilbo. Therefor this story is inspiring and shows that with the setting, character, and theme combined make this story a great read.
Have you ever felt stuck? Wherever you are, it’s the absolute last place you want to be. In the book Into the Wild, Chris McCandless feels stuck just like the average everyday person may feel. Chris finds his escape plan to the situation and feels he will free himself by going off to the wild. I agree with the author that Chris McCandless wasn’t a crazy person, a sociopath, or an outcast because he got along with many people very well, but he did seem somewhat incompetent, even though he survived for quite some time.

“If they still doubted that he was really a first class burglar, in spite of Gandalf’s words, they doubted no longer.” (Tolkien 92). This scene changed everything for the dwarves because they then truly believed he was a real burglar and from then on they all had a brand new respect for Bilbo. As Bilbo told them stories about what had happened when he was gone the dwarves were all in shock and Bilbo seemed to be very pleased in their admiration of him. As he did not tell them about the invisibility ring, which made all the stories that much more fascinating and incredible. “The dwarves looked at him with quite a new respect, when he talked about dodging guards, jumping over Gollum, and squeezing through, as if it was not very difficult or very alarming.” (Tolkien 93).
