“ Tragedy of Hamlet”
Betrayal has been underlying them spoken about for centuries. Usually this type of malicious act has hurt or divided families, friends, and lovers due to selfishness and greed. In Shakespeare’s play “ Tragedy of Hamlet ” he demonstrate different ways of betrayal. In the play Hamlet, Claudius has done the most harm to Hamlet because he killed his father and tried to have Hamlet murdered by his best friend.
The idea of betrayal in Hamlet is depicted in various ways throughout the play. Claudius, himself has caused a lot of chaos to the kingdom, is the fact that betrayal plays a rather large role throughout the play. Claudius has caused the most harm to Hamlet because he killed his father. It’s proven during the play that Claudius has killed Hamlet’s father. He pretends to be mad as he see the people of Denmark have forgotten his father death, less than four months. Gertrude, Hamlet’s mother, noticed that he wears all black to express his grief over his father’s death. With all the madness that Hamlet is showing, Claudius sends him to England to have him murdered immediately. Laertes and Claudius has a conversation about how to get back at Hamlet from the death of Polonius ( Laertes father). Unfortunately, the arrival of Hamlet in Denmark surprised the King. In order for the King to have Hamlet murder in Denmark he plans to set up“ for art and exercise in your defense” (4.7.100) between Hamlet and Laertes. Laertes has to sneak Hamlet in order to get the poison on him that he has on his sword, meanwhile Hamlet is unaware that he is going to be murdered during the fight.
