Beowulf lies still as one of the most important literary works. Though it was written many centuries ago, it's extremely relevant in today's society, due to Beowulf's heroic efforts while imitating characteristics of a human. Throughout Beowulf’s long journey, he faces these obstacles that seem to shape the success of his future. With is tireless efforts and succession on completing his missions, Beowulf became the go to guy. With Beowulf’s talent and shear skill he was able to defeat the mightiest creatures. There was one creature he could not defeat, death. Beowulf flows parallel with some of the modern day hero, such as batman. "People gather from far and wide to praise Beowulf's mighty deed" ("Canto 14-18"). As a sensible leader, Beowulf was respected by others in his community. Before he became king, Hrothgar upon special request "Hrothgar summons Beowulf for help" ("Canto 19") to eliminate Grendel's mother, because "Grendel's mother kills Hrothgars closest friend" ("Canto 19"). Yet again Beowulf was counted on. Like many superheroes they live forever. Though Beowulf may have been viewed as mortal and a superhero, he was still prone to death. "The people prepare a large pyre and mourn Beowulf" ("Canto 43"). Clearly Beowulf has passed he is still remembered as a hero in his community. In retrospect Beowulf can be translated into a modern day hero, because of his inhumanly strength, and the ways that his fellow citizens looked up to him. Beowulf was called upon to do the deeds that others could not do. With his journey of success Beowulf had earned trust and most importantly, loyalty. Highlighted points through the epic poem emphasizes Beowulf's heroic deeds and majestic works to support his kingdom. Through these works he was able to keep his kingdom afloat.
