Beowulf in Depth Beowulf, a tale long passed down humanity through generations and generations. But after hollywood gets a hold of such stories, the plot can be changed, like a group of schoolkids playing telephone. Beowulf goes thorugh some changes from the story to the 2007 film. Changes regaring himself and even the plot it self changes. Beowulf is still the heroic model and Christ figure in this story, but with a twist.
Beowulf as told in the centries old tale, is the light in the crack type of hero. Beowulf comes to save a kingdom in distress from an evil monster. Grendel is the textbook evil villan in the story, out to kill without second thought, which is true amoung both story and film. Grendel always attacks when most opportunistic, he attacks on two occasions, when the village is partying and acting rollick, also when they are at slumber, But in the film they are not sleeping when beowulf attacks grendel for the first time. Then Beowulf is introduced and comes to slay this monster. Then after Grendel is murdered, he is the hero. Then Grendels mother is introduced …show more content…

With the opening scene in a blood bath, as Grendel comes through the door and is impaling and throwing men left and right. This verison of the story is alot more dark and artistic. With different symbols never even mentioned in the story. Including the golden cup, that Beowulf gives to Grendels mother. Also Grendel’s mother isnt the blood dripping monster described in the story. She is a peice of golden eye candy, that is as sly as a snake. She baits in Hrothgar, who also kills himself in the film and also Beowulf and helps keep her evil anticts alive. After she lures in Beowulf he later battles his own son, which is a emense golden dragon. Beowulf terminates the monster by ripping its heart out.
