Benito Mussolini was born July 29Th, 1883. He was the dictator of Italy, that wanted to restore Italy to its Roman roots. He allied with Adolf Hitler thinking it would help him make his country great again, instead it lead him straight into disaster. Mussolini had shifted away from socialism and gained wealthy and powerful supporters. “On October 28, 1922, he led a Fascist march on Rome, obtaining a mandate from King Victor Emmanuel III to form a coalition government. Mussolini obtained dictatorial powers set to last one year” (Axelrod). This meant he could do what ever he wanted to do. He lowered taxes, cut government expenses for public services, and tried his best to reshape the Italian government. His actions did boost Italy’s economy.
