It goes back to the hundreds of years and thousands of miles from the Gullah people to the present day in Georgia back to 18th century Sierra Leone. The film demonstrates how the African Americans continued to have memory links of their ancestors when they were enslaved and segregated. It begins with a story of memory, and how the family was reunited with one of their own through a song that was able to remember those who sang it in the past.

Jack is a man from the country who lies saying his name is earnest when he goes into the city, he is very in love with Algy’s cousin Gwendolen. Lady Bracknell is Gwendolen’s mothers who very much does not like jack what so ever. Algy is a man in very much debt who ends up falling in love with Jacks ward Cecily, he also has some lies about who is. The whole point of lying about who they both are was to get away from the everyday lives they lived and not worry about being found out. The racial system is composed of three basic parts that divides people into different categories: the white on top, black on bottom, and brown in between. This system came to be as a result of three different population coming together with unequal terms resulting in one population having the most power. The film Do the Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee, does an excellent job at portraying how the racial system functions by showing the advantages of being at the top of the system and the disadvantages of being at the bottom of the system. Daniel started going to school in California and met a girl named Ali, whom he started to like. He started going out with her. Daniel was getting beat up by some bullies; one of them was Ali’s ex-boyfriend. They knew karate very well, but Daniel did not. So Daniel decided to learn karate. Daniel and his mom were living in an apartment and one day he discovers that the handyman at his apartment, Mr.Miyagi, knows karate very well. He asked Mr.Miyagi to teach him karate, and Mr.Miyagi became his karate teacher. It was hard for him to make new friends in a new place and he believed that Mr.Miyagi would be the only best friend he ever met.
As Søren Kierkegaard once said, “Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward.” I agree with Kierkegaard because our lives reveal who we were through our past and who we can be in the future. Likewise, some directors base their plot on this principle, but through the use of plot devices. Through reading and actually going to see the live play production of The importance of Being Earnest at Savanna’s Children Theater, I was able to get an understanding of the characters, hearing the dialogue and seeing their interactions. However, through watching the movie, the character’s personality was better understood through the use of plot devices. The criteria that seems to be the building blocks to the foundation of characterization in The Importance of Being Earnest includes flashbacks and daydreams. These plot devises combined give a clearer understanding of the characters which allows the audience to see things from the character perspective that you wouldnt’t have access to in the play.

A couple days ago I have finished THE 100 season 2. I’d like to talk about this most wonderful movie series ever that I’ve seen before. THE 100 is a mix types movie between sci-fi and action which has a great story line. Fidelity will be critical when examining how critics and audience members justify their complaints or praises. According to Blumenfeld (1995) in his essay “Fidelity as a criterion for practicing and evaluating narrative inquiry”, fidelity is contrasted with truth and characterized as moral in character. Fidelity is further characterized as a betweenness construed as both intersubjective (obligations between teller and receiver) and as a resonance between the story told and the social and cultural context of a story. Fidelity abandons any techniques of simple matching through media for a creative transformation. Andrew (1984) added that it might be better to examine the overall adaptations in terms of being true to the spirit than to look deeper and seeing something as being faithful. Fidelity has also been seen throughout the ages as having a single correct meaning and it is up to the filmmaker to capture this meaning or fail entirely (McFarlane, 1996). Throughout the late nineteenth century, Oscar Wilde wrote plays such as Lady Windermere’s Fan, A Woman of No Importance, An Ideal Husband, and The Importance of Being Earnest- his most famous play. Earnest is a comedic work that focuses on a pair of wealthy men. They have been leading double lives so that they can go off for periods of time and enjoy living without responsibility while still maintaining their aristocratic reputation. Because of Wilde’s invlovement in the aesthetic movement, it is not uncommon (or unfair) to believe that his work, Earnest included, is nothing more than fluff. That being said, it is also fair to argue that this particular play does have meaning in it. Wilde wrote The Importance of Being Earnest as a commentary on the hypocrisy of the ideal Victorian character. Earnestness is sincerity- which most Victorians believed themselves to be- and so Wilde uses the word ironically. In his eyes, people who considered themselves sincere were actually smug, self-righteous, and pompous. He expresses these opinions clearly through the play’s over-the-top and frustrating characters.
The Pursuit of Happyness is a film, based on a true story, depicting the life of a black man who lives in the borderline of the middle class, before falling deeper into poverty while trying to support his motherless child. Chris Gardner and his son Christopher, portrayed by actor Will Smith and his own son Jayden, depict how the lower class lived in the 1980’s, and explored the hardships many Americans faced, such as homelessness, the job market, the breaking apart of a family, and supporting a family while living in poverty. The Pursuit of Happyness, a real life film directed by Gabriele Muccino, tells the story of a man and his family living in poverty, and how Chris Gardner climbed out of poverty through hard-work and determination, while showcasing issues that are still relevant even today.
