It’s one of the greatest debates right now in modern time sports. Who is the greatest basketball player ever? Is it His Airness, or is it King James? The debate on whether Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the greatest basketball player ever is a prevalent topic in sports news daily. Many people believe that LeBron James is the greatest basketball player to be currently playing and also the greatest player to ever have played in the NBA. My theory, however, is that rather than LeBron James, the greatest basketball player to ever have played the game is Michael Jordan. Although I agree with the claim that LeBron James is the best current player in the NBA, I believe that he is nowhere near being considered better than Michael Jordan.
The game of basketball along with football and soccer is one of the most prominent sports in the United States and the World. It’s played at every level from 5 & under to the professional athletes in the NBA and overseas. Every team is made up of virtually the same elements; the guards, big men and coaches. Basketball is not a sport where you can focus solely on yourself, but the focus should be on the team. The sport is very public and easy to see, however there are many things that occur behind closed doors when no one is looking.
Most players that enter the NBA draft early are 19 or 20 years-old. They are going to end up playing against 25-year-olds that are stronger, faster, and that have had more experience than they have. Along with more experience, they will not be as physically fit because one or two years of college will not do it, and high school will not do it. For example, Lebron James. He is considered one of the best to have played the game, and he went straight out of high school. Imagine if he had gone to college, he would be so much better. So if they leave after the freshman or sophomore year, they will be about five or six years behind and that will make it harder to get a spot on the bench. I play basketball, not only because it gives me a source of exercise, but it also allows me to be engaged in a competitive atmosphere again. To play basketball, you start knowing little and learn from your coach a lot more. It is important to learn how the game works from the different techniques of the game to the rules, goals, and communication that come with the game of basketball.

There is also three different kind of fakes, the backdoor, reverse, and self-block. The duration of the match is 40 minute, the match consist of 4 quarters. James Naismith was the first to discover this sport by hanging two half-bushel peach baskets at the opposite ends of the gymnasium. There are ten players on the court at all times. Today, in 2017, 15.5 million people play casual/pickup basketball, 4.1 million play in organized leagues, and 5.8 million play on a school or college team. Basketball has grown tremendously amongst the years and has became very competitive. Basketball is a sports that requires good hand eye coordination, determination, and many other skills. There are many ways to be successful on and off the court in the game of basketball. Four ways to do so are studying the game, practicing in the gym daily, weight training, and eating healthy.
Some schools force students to participate in organized school sports. However, I believe that schools should not make this a requirement. Some students may have medical conditions, family situations that don't allow them to participate in organized school sports, or they simply may not have the time.

To be a great basketball player, you first must know your strengths and weaknesses. Big tall people don't need to shoot threes and short people shouldn't be in the middle struggling to get rebounds. Very physically able players should use that to there advantage to jump higher, run faster, and play better than their opponents. Not very strong or fast players should use fakes and their brains to score points.
The change that had the biggest impact on how basketball is played was the introduction of the three-point line. The three-point line started out as an experiment in college basketball in 1980 and was later adopted as a concrete part of the game later on that year. High school, college, and pro basketball leagues adopted the three-point line and how the game is played has been forever changed by the addition of the three-point line.
Many sports were invented to pass time. Basketball, the game, was one of the greatest to ever be invented. Basketball is truly an American game. It is competitive and fun. This winter indoor game has become a very popular sport among all ages.
There are numerous different steps required to be a good basketball player. There are different aspects of the game that can drastically change the tempo of the game. Of course shooting the ball is important, but improving dribbling, defensive, and passing skills are also important. A players ability in all phases of the game is what makes them a good player.
Playing basketball professionally is a career that requires intense training, provides opportunities for travel, and can pay a large amount of salary. Basketball players train intensely by spending many hours in the gym working out. Because professional basketball players compete worldwide, this career involves a great deal of travel. In addition, professional basketball players gain millions of dollars annually.
