Basketball is a fun sport that has changed a lot in how the game is played and the popularity of the game since the 1800s. This sport is one of the most well known sports in history. But what is basketball really about. The game of basketball as we know it today was invented in December 1981 Springfield, Massachusetts by a man named James Naismith. This game was originally made to condition athletes during cold months. When basketball first started there were 13 set rules and instead of a rim and a net as we play today peach baskets were used instead. One of the best players to play the game is Michael Jordan. Mr. Jordan is the most famous basketball that ever existed. Jordan is mostly known for records and amazing things that he has accomplished throughout his career like when he broke the record for the most points scored in one season. This record was originally held by another professional basketball player Wilt Chamberlain scoring 3,000 in the 1986-1987 season. Jordan now is living like a billionaire because he owns a brand of a shoe and other clothing stores made for basketball. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is another famous and wealthy basketball player that was unstoppable on the court. Kareem is NBA’s all time leading scorer. He has won 6 NBA titles five with Los Angeles Lakers over 20 years. The record for The most scored in the regular season NBA basketball is held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Karl Malone following in second and Kobe bryant in third. The most rebounds taken in regular season is held by Wilt Chamberlain with 23924 rebounds second for rebounds is Bill Russell and third is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. John Stockton has the most steals in the NBA having 3265 total steels Jason Kidd comes in second for this record and Michael Jordan comes in third. The record for the most three pointers made in a regular season goes to Ray Allen. Ray Allen has scored 2973 three pointer upon his whole career.
