All my life I have played games and various sports, I can’t remember a time in my life when I wasn’t a part of some sports team. I loved to be outside and be a part of a team. Growing up I played baseball, I started playing as soon as I possible could. I remember playing catch in my backyard on every day that I could. The sun would be shinning with birds singing in the background as my dad and I would play catch in the green grass of my backyard. He would throw the ball as high as he could toward the bright blue sky and I would do my best to try and catch the falling ball before it would hit the ground. I would also try to field ground balls that would roll through the dandelion infested lawn. As I was signing up one of my friends was there and he suggested that I also sign up for the tennis team, so I did. I ended up not liking the baseball team and really enjoyed being a part of the school’s tennis team. I made the life changing decision of quitting baseball and starting tennis. I continued to play tennis throughout junior high school and played all throughout high school and now into college. Tennis has been a major part of my life and still continues to be a major factor in my life. Tennis was the highlight of my time during high school, I met so many new people, made so many friends, and had so much fun. Tennis has been a major source of joy for me ever since I started playing. From the time I first saw the game of baseball I fell in love. Even the first word I ever said was “ball”. I have baby pictures in my baseball uniform and whenever a baseball game would be on TV, I would act like I was playing there with them. So at an early age I knew I wanted to play baseball. Luckily, my dad was also very big into baseball and helped me almost every day. Some of my best memories came when we would practice baseball in the front yard, or even go to the local (missing word) and take batting practice.
I love baseball. I love to play baseball and read baseball comics. I have read a lot of Japanese baseball comics, and almost all Japanese baseball comics’ heroes were fastball pitchers. This comic’s hero was a typical typed pitcher in Japanese baseball comics. He could throw the fastest fastball in his team, and became the ace pitcher of his team when he was a freshman.
It was the beginning of a new softball season, and I couldn't wait to get out there with my team. At our first practice I remember feeling back at home on the field. Just when I thought this was going to be our teams best season, my parents moved me to a private school. Leaving what I was familiar with was not an easy task, and deciding if I would continue my passion of softball with a different team was even more difficult.
As a kid, I was born and raised to love the great game of baseball. Many young kids have had dreams to become professional athletes, and achieve prestigious awards/ titles. Like many kids I’ve always dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player. As a younger kid with my head in the clouds, I never really knew what it was like to put my actual blood, sweat, and tears into something I loved, until my worst season I had ever played. This whole story starts in the beginning of my ninth grade baseball season. It started out different from every other year because, of course I was a freshman. I want to be a high school varsity baseball coach and later move on to college or the major leagues. Not only do I just want to be a coach, but I want to be one of the best coaches that ever coached a game of baseball. In order to do that I’m going to have to have courage, dignity within myself, and also be honest with myself in order for the players to be comfortable playing on my team. Growing up as a kid I always had a strong love for baseball and as I grew older I received a brotherhood from baseball, a place of peace, and also a comfort stage that helped me perform in front of people. My main goal as a coach is to reach out to the kids and minister to them. I wish to show them an alternative route from selling drugs and robbing.
Growing up, I have always had a passion for baseball. To me, it is much more than just a sport. There have been times when it has acted as an escape from many problems in my life, as I feel that when I am on the diamond, nothing can hurt me. I am aware that many people feel this way about the sport they love, but sadly their careers often come to an abrupt end due to injury. I have a personal connection to this experience. The summer before my fourth grade year I was attending a basketball camp at Davidson College, when in the final seconds of a scrimmage game, my ankle was kicked out from under me. I also decided to keep playing, as many people do quit, and I kept trying harder in Baseball, and instead of giving up; to push past that and to keep getting farther in the Sport. It changed what I do after school, it made me also think about what I like to do in my spare time, to what I should do in my spare time. Now, I do baseball whenever in my spare time, which helps me reach my overall goal in playing the sport. It used to be for fun, but now I am trying to go farther than just having fun in the sport. As a little kid, I think everyone has had a dream or goal to become a professional ball player or celebrity. The reason kids set these goals, because it is considered cool to be a professional ball player or celebrity. Also, those careers pay a lot of money for the things people love to do: play. For some, they do not care what it will take for them to achieve those goals and dreams. My dream was to become a professional baseball player, but I needed to focus on my education more.
I earned a spot on varsity. Being on varsity gave me my first taste of truly competitive tennis. Usually during practices, we would be separated from the other girls not on varsity, and our coach would run special drills with us. Tennis is an energy demanding sport. Matches usually started around 8, although sometimes I had to wake up at 4 because of a long drive, and depending on how many teams were at the tournament, could end late in the evening, one day we didn’t finish until around 9pm. By this time in my tennis career, I knew all the rules of tennis inside and out. I would frequently help the players on the team newer to the sport with scoring, knowing where to stand to serve, and what grips to hold their rackets in. Each game, my passion grew. Each team, new memories and lifelong friends were made. Sports sometimes make me feel disappointment and at loss; but it taught me to be resilient to a lot of things, like how to thrive under pressure and come out on top. Being the team captain of my high school’s football and lacrosse team showed me how having a big responsibility to bring a group together to work as one is compared to many situations in life. Currently playing varsity football, varsity lacrosse, and track I take great pride in the activities I do. Staying on top of my academics, being duel enrolled at Indian River State College, working three nights a week, and two different sport practices after school each day shaped my character to having a hard work
My baseball history is pretty great once i hit the ball so hard i ran all the bases and slid into home plate even though i was safe by a mile the ball flew into the pitcher's hand at home but it fell out and i was safe. i've been playing baseball since i was seven years old. Baseball is my main and favorite sport. my best game was last year we dominated the other team so bad that they just gave up and over the years i've picked up on a lot of things like be apart of your team don't try to outshine your teammates like last year the people on my team tried to outshine each other and we lost a lot of the games because we didn't work together and in my past seasons i've only had three teams that have done that.the other things
I have throughout my whole life been playing sports. I still play basketball competitively and now it’s at the university level. Basketball though was not my first love when it came to playing sports. It has though become my true focus since junior high school. Coming from Canada everybody plays hockey. Its almost as if as soon as you learn to walk you learn how to skate. Whether it is at the recreation centre or at the shinny rink around the corner everyone plays. Eventually I abandoned hockey to play basketball which I have done so for the last twelve years of my life and hopefully a few more years into the future.
A hobby I've held onto and cherished for a very long time was playing baseball. The sport was introduced to me by my father through the movie The Sandlot. The sport ended up holding a more significant meaning to me after I learned that both my Father and Grandfather played in their high school years. For me, Baseball laid down the foundation for my future and has been a positive force in my development since I was young.
Tennis is one of my first commitments that I have made to continue in life starting when I was younger. Tennis has taught me that it is not just a sport to lose weight, but much more than that. Tennis has taught me to continue a passion and never give up in the process of doing so. It has taught me to develop close relationships with peers in order to cooperate. In addition, I have learned life-long skills that I would never have had such as sportsmanship, motivation, problem-solving, and teamwork.
Once people start to learn how to play the game, they can become much more aware of their surroundings. Tennis not only requires one to watch the ball constantly, but also watch for other balls that may come onto the court. Playing tennis also requires the individual to practice. Similar with starting any new sport or club, many people are given the chance to meet new people who share something that they are both passionate about and can relate to. People are also given a chance to become more physically fit. Tennis requires many short sprints from one end of the court to the other, as well as constant conditioning to build up one’s strength, physically and mentally.
