There are many controversial issues over school. There are some choices that school administrators can choose what to do. Some subjects they can change are whether or not we have a dress code policy or school uniforms. Also they can choose the no child left behind program. There are other subjects that school administrators should not be able to choose. One topic schools should not be able to choose over are school administrators banning books, although they can turn down books if it involves a project that they will present and turn in. The American Library Association also says that books are usually banned with the best intent and to protect people from difficult situations (Brunner). There is a week that celebrates banned books called Banned Books Week. This week was established in 1982 in forms of events and exhibits surrounding censorship (Leigh). Banned Books Week celebrates readers everywhere to encourage us to pick up a book that has been questioned (Hub). Banning books does not teach students anything. Also, books inspire a passion for reading. Books can help students grow up and mature, too. When school administrators ban books, students don’t have the right to freedom or choice, and that will not help anyone in life. Books also posses many amazing ideas to the readers (“Banned”).     Book banning is a prime target for censorship. Censorship in print media, notably book banning, occurs across homes, schools, stores, and other facilities daily. Censorship in the schools is the most widespread and exposed place for book banning. Do administrators and school boards have the right to ban books? Pico in New York, the Supreme Court gave the school board broad discretion to frame curriculum and teach civic and moral values.
