Introduction
Bacteria are becoming a common problem around the world. It is also a great advantage. Bacteria are in our food, in side humans and everywhere else. Not all bacteria are bad. Bacteria are microorganisms. They can only be seen through a microscope. Taken as a group, bacteria are the second most common cause of meningitis. Bacterial meningitis tends to be more serious than viral meningitis, and may even cause death. However, unlike viruses, bacteria can be killed by medicines such as antibiotics. Meningitis is the infection of the meninges, which is the delicate membranes that cover and protect the brain and spinal cord. Tuberculosis used to be a wide spread disease. With the help of bacteria, the case in some countries around the world is getting worse. Bacteria are becoming resistant to antibiotics. Doctors consistently change their patient’s medicine because bacteria keep becoming resistant to antibiotics. Vaccines help prevent some types of meningitis, but not all of them. Bacteria reproduce really easily and rapidly, so a disease can spread really quickly.

Bacteria are living things. They have not more than a single cell. They are even smaller than human body cells. There are millions of them together and they multiply fast. Bacteria belong to a universe of single-celled creatures too small to be seen by the naked eye, but exist everywhere on earth.
Bacteria cells do not have a nucleus. This means that they are prokaryotes. Eukaryotes have a nucleus inside their cells.
Microbiology is the study of both eukaryotes and prokaryotes and viruses. Some bacteria are good and some bacteria are bad. Some bacteria can cause diseases. This means that they are pathogenic bacteria.

The bacteria that cause tuberculosis are spread through the air. This means that tuberculosis is contagious. If the bacteria are inactive in the body, it is called latent tuberculosis infection. The inactive bacteria eventually become active. Medication most of the time gets rid of the inactive bacteria before it becomes active.
Tuberculosis was a really common disease. With the help of antibiotics, which was developed in the 1950’s, tuberculosis has taken on new forms of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis. This has caused a major crisis in some countries around the world.
