Have you ever made a decision and knew it would be the right thing to do but knew everyone would go against because of their own personal beliefs and opinions? Some people think that doing the right thing is not always the best thing to do. In the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Atticus Finch takes a stand against the whole town of Maycomb, Alabama which could put him and his family in danger. Atticus is a white lawyer who took the side of a black man named Tom Robinson against the Ewell’s a white family’.There would be close calls and parts I wouldn’t agree with just for his family’s protection but I think Atticus Finch made the right decision by take Tom Robinson’s case.

Atticus is a well respected man around Maycomb and is known for his loyalty and honesty. Atticus and his family has been around Maycomb since the start of the town and are all well known. Atticus had told himself “he would not be the same man if he didn’t take this case” and that shows a lot about Atticus and how he is as a person. Atticus has always been kind to every race and never showed any kind of racism, Atticus and his family have a cleaner like a motherly figure to his kids and when Aunt Alexandra thought they should get rid of her Atticus disagreed right away. That can show that taking this case made a lot of sense to Atticus, he is against racism. …show more content…

Scout, Atticus’s daughter was getting a lot of trouble because her father was defending a colored man. A lot of her classmates told her that her daddy was a “n------ lover”. Atticus told her “to never say that word again” . Atticus has respect for everybody and cares for everyone. While Tom was in jail Atticus went to Tom’s family’s home to check on the family and fill them in on the case. Not only can you tell that Atticus cares about everyone but his job
