Harper Lee has said that “How to Kill a Mockingbird” was not an autobiographical. However, there was many of similarities to her life and the life of Scout and Atticus Finch.
Lee had said that the Civil Rights Movement influenced her a lot, she saw how black people were treated and she knew it was not right and wanted to do something about it. She greatly wanted to influence the society so she wrote “How to Kill a Mockingbird” .
In the novel the way Atticus Finch talks about the mockingbirds is how Lee feels about black people.
In the book Scout Finch’s friend “Dill” that comes every summer was inspired by Lee’s neighbor and close friend Truman Capote. Truman Capote was a boy that was sent to live with relatives in Monroeville. Like Dill, Capote
