Athletes Salary Money doesn’t grow on trees, except in the life of a pro athlete! Some professional athletes make up to 110 million dollars per season, while teachers, who provide education to the younger generation, struggle to pay their bills. I strongly believe that professional athletes should not make as much money as they do when other job occupations are more beneficial and do more to help, strengthen, and support our communities. To begin with, often, athletes who know ahead of time, that they have a good chance of making it in the pros, skip over college. In the society we live in today, jobs do not come easy to people who don’t have a degree. Playing in the pros with no degree can have some serious consequences!! What if an injury happens? What if returning to the game is not an option? Getting a job is going to be tough, especially a well paying job to support a family. Being left broke is very common for fallen pro athletes. Secondly, The biggest red flag I see in an athlete's salary is when it’s compared to an everyday teacher salary. Teachers work their butts off for the younger generation to have a good education and set them up for a successful life. A student's favorite teacher is also a student's hero. Professional athletes do spend the early ages of their life dedicated to learn how to be perfect at their sport but if it’s thought about, so do doctors. Doctors spend eight years in college, then go to med-school to study for another four years, then do internship and residency, after all of that, then they can finally become doctor. It takes a lot to become a doctor and only a few can do it. Yes, doctors do make good money, but nothing compared to what a professional athlete makes in their lifetime.
