Students who are homeschooled should also be able to play school sports in public or private schools. A young teenager has quickly become a tennis prodigy, and has been training intensely hard for a couple of years. His trainer has decided the only possible way for him to accomplish his goals and strive for his dreams is to be homeschooled and concentrate on his future in tennis. Because of the rules for homeschooled athletes, his dreams could be snatched away. Many athletes around the country are being mistreated and denied of their dreams just because lousy homeschooling rules say they cannot compete in a sport. A student should not just be able to complete his or her work at home, then attend athletically. The student should take part in social groups and other in-school activities to be involved. The student-athlete should have to pay money to participate in athletics because the student does not attend the school and put in the time like the other students, so paying money to represent the school on the field would be reasonable. Other student’s make money for the school by fundraisers and different types of events, so a homeschool student should also pay his or her dues. Another issue with homeschool student athletes is that they can come in and play right away. As a parent, seeing another athlete coming in and stealing an athlete’s spot right away hurts. Seeing a teenager failing to control his or her position on the field does not make anyone happy, especially if the athlete has been there for his or her whole career, but the other student just now comes around within a month and steals that away. Nothing positive happens for the athlete or even the team to see a great friend and teammate
